New York City Loses 12 Billion Dollars in Revenue Because of Corrupt Democrat Leaders

new york city covid tourism

As Europe rolls out a vaccine passport to try and support its tourism industry by any means necessary, the tourism industry in New York City is just showing its first signs of revival. Will it ever climb back to its all time highs?

High crime and strict lockdowns have destroyed New York City

With those who choose not to get vaccinated restricted from traveling abroad for the foreseeable future, domestic destinations like the Big Apple are excited by the prospect of a bigger-than-expected rebound. On that note, Bloomberg reports that the city’s tourism industry is just showing its first signs of revival, according to a report from the state Comptroller’s Office.

Spending by visitors to New York City dropped by 73% in 2020 from the year before, costing the city $1.2 billion in lost tax revenue, as 43.7MM fewer visitors arrived in the city in 2020. This accounted for 59% of the $2 billion in lost revenue the city believes was lost due to the pandemic. What’s more, the industry’s overall economic impact fell to $20.2 billion in 2020 from $80.3 billion in 2019.

Prior to the pandemic (September 2019), hotel occupancy in the City was 89.6 percent, the highest in the nation, and was a key factor attracting hotel builders and operators. By September 2020, occupancy had dropped to 38.9 percent, pressuring daily room rates.

While the first green shoots are starting to show, New York Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli said it will take years for the industry to fully recover.

“The pandemic’s damage to this industry has been staggering and it may take years before tourism returns to pre-pandemic levels,” Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli said in a statement on Wednesday. “Visitors and their spending are essential factors in measuring the health of the economy.”

Many residents have left NYC for good

Over the past few decades, NYC’s services-based economy has become increasingly dependent on tourism, as any panhandler in Times Square would likely attest.

Tourism jobs declined by more than 30% last year, from 283K to 194K, a loss of 89K jobs, numbers that – according to the latest nonfarm payrolls data, are finally creeping higher.

Since 1991, the number of visitors to the City has nearly tripled, with almost half the growth occurring in the last 10 years (between 2009 and 2019). Much of this has been driven by international tourism, although with the US’s lingering travel restrictions, international travelers have seen by far the biggest drop.

Though, to be sure, the majority of visitors to the city are still domestic travelers. But generally speaking, the city makes more money off of international tourists, with one international tourist typically spending 4x what a domestic tourist spends. Unsurprisingly, the majority of these jobs are located in Manhattan, though Brooklyn and Queens have seen rapid tourism job creation over the last 10 years.

Tourism industry employees, like hospitality workers, tend to live in the city. According to the report, 83% of the nearly 200K workers live in the city. A higher share are also self-employed. There are 60,800 firms in New York City that provide at least some of their services in support of tourism. Of these, 39.5 percent are located in Manhattan, while Brooklyn and Queens also account for large portions (25.3 percent and 22.5 percent, respectively).

Of course, even as international travelers start to trickle back once COVID-19 case numbers have returned to zero, it’s looking increasingly possible that a new scourge might take its place: violent crime, which is exploding in the city in the wake of the pandemic.

State Jumps in Line With Florida, Signs Bill to End the Left Wing Terrorist Shenanigans

florida anti riot bill tennessee

An anti-rioting and pro-police bill is being considered by state representatives in the Tennessee House, following the lead of Florida, which enacted a similar measure last month.

Tennessee and Florida lay down the law on BLM riots

Tennessee House Bill 513 would increase penalties and punishment for criminal protesters, such as:

Harsher penalties for disruptive protesters. Making the penalty against protesters blocking roadways a Class E felony, punishable by up to six years in prison. Granting immunity to some drivers, if they unintentionally injure a protester.

Imposing a minimum sentence for those convicted of assaulting police officers, and making it harder for local governments to defund police departments.

As The Washington Examiner notes, H.R. 513 emulates a new Florida law signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis, which the governor says he signed because police were being discouraged from protecting victimized citizens.

Gov. Ron DeSantis described the new bill as “the strongest anti-rioting, pro-law enforcement piece of legislation in the country.”

Red states standing up to left-wing terrorism and Conservatives are flocking there

“We saw last summer some of the local governments were actually telling, not necessarily in Florida, but throughout the country, basically telling these folks to stand, telling police to stand down while cities burned, while businesses were burned, while people were being harmed,” he added when he signed the bill last month.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ new anti-rioting bill sends a message that protests are fine, but violence is not. And they know the difference.

“Peaceful protests are alright,” Sheriff Grady Judd said. “But, rioting, looting, burning mom and pop out, ruining their lives—that’s not acceptable. So this is all about keeping the 20 plus million people that live in Florida safe as well as the millions of people that visit with us every year.”

He added, “We’ve got the back of the community. But, if the government officials don’t have our back then it’s impossible to keep the community safe and that’s what we’ve seen throughout the nation. The government officials are saying stand down. We have prosecutors saying we won’t prosecute. What do they think is gonna happen when you give the rioters permission to riot?”

VIDEO: Armed Patron Stops BLM Right in Their Tracks

BLM riot gun louisville

BLM is at it again. Marching through peaceful downtown streets and terrorizing the citizens. One man wasn’t having it. Video shows a restaurant patron pull a small revolver and aim it at the thugs.

Of course the mainstream media fails to mention that several of the BLM goons were carrying rifles and wearing body armor as they approached the restaurant patio. Clearly trying to threaten and intimidate. See the video below.

BLM goons try to intimidate restaurant patrons and armed citizen responds

In response to the BLM riots, Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law Florida’s “anti-riot” bill, which increases penalties for crimes committed during riots and is aimed at “combating public disorder.”

“If you look at the breadth of this particular piece of legislation, it is the strongest anti-rioting, pro-law enforcement piece of legislation in the country,” DeSantis said at a press conference. “There’s just nothing even close.”

Florida’s Senate passed the bill last week 23-17. The law, which goes into effect immediately, grants civil legal immunity to people who drive through protesters blocking a road and allows authorities to hold arrested demonstrators from posting bail until after their first court date.

The legislation increases the charge for battery on a police officer during a riot and adds language that could force local governments to justify a reduction in law enforcement budgets.

Americans growing tired of mob justice and Left-wing terrorism

The bill allows people to sue local governments over personal or property damages if they were determined to have interfered with law enforcement response during civil unrest. It also increases penalties for protesters who block roadways or deface public monuments and creates a new crime, “mob intimidation.”

Republicans say the bill would protect law enforcement officers and help prevent public disorder following recent unrest in the U.S.

Civil rights, social justice groups, and Democrats say it is an unconstitutional attack on free speech that would make it easier for law enforcement to charge those involved in a protest.

“The problem with this bill is that the language is so overbroad and vague … that it captures anybody who is peacefully protesting at a protest that turns violent through no fault of their own,” said Kara Gross, the legislative director at ACLU Florida, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Lawmakers Override Kansas Governors Socialist Agenda

kansas republicans vote gun rights

Republican lawmakers on Monday cut Kansas’ income taxes, lowered the age for carrying a concealed gun and tightened state election laws by overriding Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly’s vetoes of those measures.

GOP lawmakers make it clear that Kansas is a RED state

A series of votes in the GOP-controlled Legislature demonstrated that its Republican supermajorities can control policy — and push the state back to the right — if they hold together. Centrist and left-of-center activists took Kelly’s election in 2018 as a sign that voters were repudiating conservative management of state government, but elections in 2020 moved the Legislature to the right.

“They listened to folks back home,” House Speaker Tem Blaine Finch, an Ottawa Republican, said of GOP lawmakers. “It’s because of, really, the grassroots in their communities telling them, ‘Hey, this is important to us.’”

But Senate Minority Leader Dinah Sykes, a Lenexa Democrat, derided the “veto override-a-rama.”

“Today leaves no doubt: The Kansas Legislature is more extreme than ever,” she said in a statement.

Republican leaders realized their goal of tax relief for individuals and businesses that have been paying more in state income taxes because of changes in federal tax laws at the end of 2017. The measure will save Kansas taxpayers about $284 million over three years.

The vote to override Kelly’s veto was 30-10 in the Senate, giving GOP leaders three votes more than the two-thirds majority needed. The House vote was 84-39, the exact number of required yes votes.

Conservatives reject Democrats radical agenda

A key change will allow people to claim itemized deductions on their state returns even if they don’t on their federal returns. The federal tax changes in 2017 discouraged itemizing, making some Kansans unable to itemize on their state returns.

“This bill corrects a huge injustice for our middle-income taxpayers,” said Republican Sen. Jeff Longbine, of Emporia.

Democrats criticized the bill because it also contained tax relief for some large businesses. Kelly vetoed two tax-cutting bills in 2019, and she called this year’s bill “reckless” and “short-sighted.”

She suggested Republicans were moving back toward a nationally notorious tax-cutting experiment in 2012 and 2013 under then-GOP Gov. Sam Brownback. Those cuts were followed by persistent budget shortfalls and were mostly repealed in 2017.

“It’s as if legislative leaders want to return to the days of budget crises,” Kelly said in a statement. “I’ve never met a Kansan who wants that.”

The Legislature overrode Kelly’s veto of a bill that would create a special concealed carry permit for 18-, 19- and 20-year-olds, and that’s a major victory for gun-rights advocates. The state already allows people 21 and older to carry concealed guns without a permit and adults can carry them openly, but Kelly’s election had advocates of tougher gun laws hoping for a roll back of Kansas’ generally loose policies.

The votes were 84-39 in the House and 31-8 in the Senate. The measure also expands Kansas’ recognition of other states’ concealed carry permits.

Republicans overturned Kelly’s veto of an elections bill making it harder for individuals and groups to collect absentee ballots and deliver them for voters. It will be a misdemeanor for someone to collect and return more than 10 ballots.

The votes were 85-38 in the House and 28-12 in the Senate. GOP lawmakers said they are preventing fraud, arguing that the more people who handle absentee ballots, the more likely those ballots are to go missing or be altered.

Step Aside Liz Cheney, America First House Rep is Here to Take Your Job

Liz Cheney House rep Trump

Jim Banks is the head of the House GOP’s biggest caucus. He’s also earning another unofficial title: shadow chair of the House GOP Conference. Now he’s going after Liz Cheney.

The MAGA movement is alive and well

The Indiana Republican, who’s made no secret of his future leadership ambitions, has used his new platform as chief of the Republican Study Committee to build a messaging operation to compete with that of Rep. Liz Cheney, the House GOP’s current — and embattled — conference chair.

On Banks’ watch, the RSC has begun blasting out weekly newsletters modeled after POLITICO Playbook that try to serve up a buzzy mix of politics, policy and personality. The RSC also regularly compiles talking points for its members that often get leaked to conservative media outlets. Banks crafted his own memo outlining his vision for the GOP’s future that won praise from top Republicans. And the RSC has also helped coordinate media opportunities for its members, with Banks routinely popping up in D.C.-based coverage himself.

Banks’ effort to assemble a rival messaging machine is widely viewed by his colleagues as an audition for Cheney’s job, which governs both communications and member services. That position may be available sooner than he expected: Tensions over Cheney’s outspoken criticism of former President Donald Trump are once again at a boiling point inside the GOP conference, with some senior Republicans predicting she’ll be pushed out of leadership before month’s end.

Banks, a veteran of the Afghanistan war who has aligned himself closely with Trump, has raised his own profile since taking the reins of the conservative caucus earlier this year. And the media-savvy 41-year-old is making clear that he views his RSC’s communications shop as superior to the conference’s formal, Cheney-led hub. Banks described it as “filling a void.”

And even though Cheney publicly split from most of her party when she voted to impeach Trump, her allies argue that she has continued to succeed in her leadership role by providing the conference with important messaging tools. Under Cheney’s leadership, the GOP conference has sent out messaging emails every morning that Congress has been in session, in addition to a weekly email with shareable social media content focused on hitting the Biden agenda, according to sources who have seen the communications.

ebt cards fraud arrest

Yakima police say they caught a local man with more than a dozen P-EBT cards loaded with hundreds of dollars, in the name of local kids.

Fraud is up as governments spend a fortune on COVID stimulus

YPD says officer responded April 21st just after midnight to a wrecked car stranded on top of a landscaping rock. Police say the man at the car, 23-year-old Alberto Pastrana, had a warrant out for his arrest for domestic violence assault.

After the arrest, police searched Pastrana and say they found 14 P-EBT cards for 14 different people. The officer who made the arrest says Pastrana accused him of planting them.

P-EBT cards are funded through federal COVID-19 relief funds and provide money to help families with children who qualify for free or reduced price lunch. Police say each of the cards were active and loaded with between $665 to $861.

The cards combined were worth approximately $10,000. Officers were able to contact the parents or guardians of nine of the children and say the parents confirmed that they wanted to press charges.

In a later police interview, officers say Pastrana told them he’d found the cards on the sidewalk and was planning on returning them. Pastrana is facing charges of 9 counts of possession of stolen property.

Democrats printing money like crazy while losers sell their EBT cards

The scam is quite simple actually. You get food stamps from the federal government and turn around and sell them on the streets for 50 cents on the dollar. It happens more than you may think and the hustle is happening right on your social media pages.

For families on food stamps it’s a lifeline to nutrition and helping put food on the table.

“They give us that for us to eat or have what we need,” Michael Beander, of West Philly, told reporters.

But getting food stamps on Facebook? It’s happening. One woman in North Philly is selling $150 in food stamps for 125 bucks on the 6th of the month. And on Craigslist where you could get 195 bucks in food stamps for just $95.

“You can go into just about any one of these corner stores and sell your food stamps for 50% of the value,” Arnett Woodfall explained.

He owns West Phillie Produce where you can get fresh pineapples and bananas but you can no longer use food stamps to buy them. The store stopped accepting food stamps because too many people were trying to abuse the system.

Archbishop Makes it Clear, Nancy is Not Going to Have Her Ice Cream and Eat it Too

The Rev. Salvatore Cordileone did not single out any Catholics in his latest letter calling for Holy Communion to be withheld from public figures who support abortion rights. But the 17-page missive from the archbishop of San Francisco may have important implications for one of the archdiocese’s most famous parishioners: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Nancy Pelosi is another fake Catholic in Washington DC

Pelosi, a California Democrat and high-profile Catholic, has long supported women’s right to access abortion care — and, for nearly as long, she has come under fire from those who say her views contradict the teachings of the church, which considers abortion a grave sin.

Even though Cordileone, among the country’s most conservative Catholic leaders, did not mention Pelosi by name, his letter implies that figures such as she should be denied Communion, the holiest of the religion’s sacraments. If an “erring Catholic” continues supporting abortion rights, even after conversations with church officials, a pastor’s “only recourse” is to temporarily exclude them from the sacrament, Cordileone wrote.

“This is a bitter medicine, but the gravity of the evil of abortion can sometimes warrant it,” he added.

Cordileone’s letter is the latest entry in an evolving debate about how Catholic leaders should handle politicians whose stances — particularly on abortion — do not jibe with the church’s doctrine. And the controversy has intensified since the election of the nation’s second Catholic president, who some say should also be denied Communion.

Democrats claim to be Christians while supporting abortion

The archbishop acknowledged the polarizing political dynamic, writing in an addendum that he intentionally waited to publish his thoughts until after the 2020 election year to avoid “confusion among those who would misperceive this as ‘politicizing’ the issue.”

“Regardless of which political party is in power at a given moment, we all need to review some basic truths and moral principles,” Cordileone wrote.

Pelosi’s office did not respond to a request for comment, and representatives for the archdiocese did not respond to questions about whether Cordileone thinks Pelosi specifically should be barred from Communion.

The letter — titled “Before I Formed You in the Womb I Knew You” and released Saturday — comes in the run-up to a June gathering of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, where church leaders will vote on whether to draft a document on the Communion issue.

Marine Veteran Crushes 30yr Old World Record, MSM Won’t Cover This Story, We WILL

pushup world record

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran from North Carolina just broke a 30-year-old world record for the most pushups in one hour. He also attempted the most pushups in twelve hours but fell short of that goal.

North Carolina man shatters world record for pushups

TShane Johnson of Charlotte, North Carolina is the new world record holder for the most pushups in 1 hour. He live-streamed his attempt on YouTube over the weekend (video below) and will now go through the process of Guinness World certification but that’s all a formality because we’re all able to clearly see him break the record.

The previous world record for the most pushups in 1 hour was 2,919. That world record had stood for over 30 years which completely blows my mind given how thirsty CrossFit athletes are to break records these days. But that one stood the test of time until TShane Johnson came along.

Johnson’s new world record of 3,050 pushups in 60 minutes destroyed the previous best of 2,919 pushups. People have come close over the years to matching or breaking the 30-year-old record to no avail but Johnson broke the record by 131 pushups.

If you’re so inclined, you can watch the live stream of his record-setting event on YouTube:

He did fall short of the 12-hour world title. The Guinness World Records for the most pushups in 12 hours is 19,325 and he was able to complete 16,500.

This isn’t Johnson’s first brush with freakish athletic feats. In 2018, he hiked from Orlando, Florida to Los Angeles and covered roughly 22 miles away. He raised money for his foundation Hike Across America to support homeless veterans along the way.

Johnson told reporters “I do these things to inspire regular people to do amazing things” and said he’s not some professional athlete making hundreds of millions of dollars but he’s taking his opportunity in life to make an impact.

After he gives his body some time to recover from doing 16,500 pushups, he thinks he’ll start focusing on some boxing and begin training for his first fight in July, and then after the nation officially returns to normal he’ll attempt another long-distance run across the country.

Ex Elementary School Teacher Caught Being a Sexual Predator

A former Bakersfield elementary school teacher was arrested in San Diego County on charges of engaging in sexually graphic conversations with former students with the intent to commit a sexual offense, according to police.

Pervert teacher arrested for targeting minors

Kyle Puette, 37, was arrested Thursday in Valley Center, police said. He worked at Louise Sandrini Elementary School from 2013 to 2017 and is currently employed as a 3rd and 5th grade teacher at Valley Center Elementary School.

The alleged crimes occurred in Bakersfield and Puette is being transported there to face charges. Police said two victims have been identified.

Puette contacted the juveniles through social media and engaged in “graphic and inappropriate” conversations through text and video messaging, police said.

“The Bakersfield Police Department is working closely with the Panama-Buena Vista School District as well as authorities in San Diego County,” a police news release said.

“This investigation is being conducted in association with the Bakersfield Police Department’s membership in the Central Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.”

First They Murder Him, What They Begin to Do With the Body is So GROSS

Two men faced charges Tuesday in the murder and dismemberment of a 55-year-old man found in a vehicle that crashed in Fort Wayne, authorities said.

Murder suspects caught with dismembered body in Indiana

Mathew Cramer, 21, was charged with murder, resisting law enforcement using a vehicle and abuse of a corpse in the death of Shane Nguyen.

Jacob Carreon-Hamilton, 20, faces charges of assisting a criminal, resisting law enforcement in a vehicle and abuse of a corpse.

Officers found Nguyen’s body in black plastic trash bags in his van Sunday, two days after he was reported missing, an affidavit said. An autopsy determined Nguyen died from blows to his head.

The van was involved in a police chase Sunday. During the pursuit, the driver jumped from the vehicle and a passenger moved to the driver’s seat, the affidavit said. The van later crashed into a fence outside a home and the second driver fled on foot.

A receipt from a hardware store for items including tarps and a hacksaw was found in the van, and Cramer and Carreon-Hamilton were seen in a video from the store buying the items, the affidavit said. A large knife was purchased from a Walmart.

The video also showed the men driving Nguyen’s van, the affidavit said. Cramer told police he’d asked Nguyen for a ride from Elkhart back to Fort Wayne and that he planned to kill Nguyen before they reached Fort Wayne, the affidavit said. It’s unclear how the two men knew each other.

Cramer told investigators they went to the storage unit and put Nguyen in a choke hold until he was unconscious. Cramer said he then slammed Nguyen’s head on the pavement, the affidavit said.

Cramer told police he used a knife to cut Nguyen’s body while Carreon-Hamilton held the body, the affidavit said.
