Watch Live: Mother’s Day Protest – Pro-Life, Pro-Abortion Activists Clash Outside SCOTUS

Pro-life and pro-abortion activists are confronting one another outside the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, DC, Sunday morning.

Sunday’s Mother’s Day protest follows a string of drastic measures being taken by far left radicals to protest the Court’s expected decision to repeal Roe v. Wade.

On Saturday, pro-abortion activists blocked entrance to a New York City church and gathered outside the homes of several U.S. Supreme Court justices.

Airport workers in Italy claim “humanitarian” cargo from Pisa was actually aimed at fuelling the conflict

Humanitarian flights for Ukraine loaded with weapons, protesting airport workers claim

One of Italy’s largest trade unions has called for a protest outside the Pisa airport on Saturday, after receiving a tip from some employees that Ukraine relief flights were transporting weapons and ammunition, not food and medicine.

Several workers at the Galileo Galilei airport refused to load one of the cargo flights advertised as carrying humanitarian aid to Ukraine. The crates did not contain food and medication but weapons, ammunition and explosives instead, the Unione Sindacale di Base (USB) said in a statement on Monday evening.

“We strongly denounce this outright falsification, which cynically uses ‘humanitarian’ aid as cover to fuel the war in Ukraine,” the USB said.

The union said the workers refused to load the military supplies as that would lead to the deaths of their colleagues in Ukraine – namely, those working at the bases targeted by Russian missile strikes, where the weapons processed through US and NATO bases in Poland get delivered.

Francesca Donato, an Italian member of the European Parliament, commented on the union’s statement by calling on the government in Rome to “clarify” what is happening.

Meanwhile, dockworkers at the nearby port of Livorno joined the protest on Tuesday, praising their airport colleagues for standing up for their values.

“We stand alongside the Ukrainian peoples, the Donbass and Russia and we do not want to be complicit in this conflict,” the Porto Livorno chapter of USB said in a statement.

USB is calling for air traffic control of the Pisa airport to “immediately block these flights of death disguised as humanitarian aid.” A protest under the slogan “bridges of peace, not flights of war” is scheduled outside the airport for Saturday, March 19.

The union also called on all workers to refuse to load weapons and explosives, and for an immediate ceasefire and peace talks to end the conflict in Ukraine.

Russia sent troops into Ukraine on February 23, saying it needs to demilitarize and “denazify” the government in Kiev that sought NATO membership and nuclear weapons. The Ukrainian government has accused Russia of an unprovoked attack. NATO has pledged military and humanitarian aid to Kiev, while enacting a widespread embargo against Russia.

Watch: Ukrainians Protest at Biden White House, Demand ‘Stronger Sanctions Now’

Watch: Ukrainians Protest at Biden White House, Demand ‘Stronger Sanctions Now’

Hundreds of supporters of Ukraine gathered in front of the White House on Thursday to demand U.S. President Joe Biden issue more impactful sanctions against Russia in response to Russian leader Vladimir Putin launching an attack on Ukraine this week.

The protesters demonstrated for hours Thursday evening in next-to-freezing temperatures and rain in Lafayette Square Park, just beyond the White House lawn, yelling chants condemning Putin and calling for more action from Biden.

“President Biden, please remember that Putin and [Belarusian President Alexander] Lukashenka are criminals. The only language they understand is language of force. We need stronger sanctions. Ukrainians appreciate the help that you provided and sanctions that already applied, but we need stronger sanctions to stop Putin,” one protester announced to the crowd of several hundred.

Chants broke out throughout the event of “cut Russia off,” “USA with Ukraine,” “do not let democracy die,” “stop Putin now,” “Crimea is Ukraine,” and more.

Asked about Biden’s sanctions response, one individual named Yevgeniy told Breitbart News, “I don’t feel they are adequate. They will feel the difference only in years. They need to feel it now. They need to start feeling it now.”

“Russian banks were prepared for sanctions. They knew about the invasion for months. They are prepared. These sanctions do nothing for them,” he added.

Biden detailed Thursday what he described as “strong sanctions” on Russia, which included cutting off major Russian banks from the U.S. financial system and limiting exports to Russia, repercussions which came after Biden indicated in January that sanctions against Russia would depend on the severity level of the invasion into Ukraine versus sanctions for any invasion at all.

Standing with Yevgeniy at the protest was Nadiya Shaporynska, the president of the group U.S. Ukrainian Activists, who emphasized that thousands of Ukrainian civilians and service members have been killed “during this war, which Russia started in 2014,” when Russia invaded and annexed the peninsula Crimea at the start of heightened conflict between the two nations.

In a press conference Friday afternoon, the U.S. State Department said the attack on Ukraine was ongoing, that Russian military forces were advancing toward Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, and that “we have not seen any indication that Putin is prepared to deescalate. We have not seen any indication that he is willing to create the conditions in which diplomacy can succeed.”

Canadian Veteran To March Over 2,700 miles in Support of Freedom Convoy

Canadian Veteran To March Over 2,700 miles in Support of Freedom Convoy

Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) veteran James Topp has begun a gruelling march from Vancouver to Ottawa in support of Freedom Convoy protestors against Wuhan coronavirus restrictions and mandates.

Topp began his journey from Vancouver on Sunday and is looking to walk a distance of 4,395 kilometres/2,731 miles across a large portion of Canada to reach Ottawa and is joined by a small group of others.

A 28-year veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, Topp released a mission statement on his website “Canada Marches” saying, “We rise to serve Canadians with honesty, respect and compassion, for the purpose of reuniting our people. We do this, with the intention of ensuring our government upholds the laws that support Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms.”

According to a report from broadcaster CBC, Warrant Officer Topp was under investigation by the Canadian Armed Forces over his planned march. Several others have also allegedly been placed under investigation including two active-duty members of the elite counter-terrorism force JTF2.

The marchers are expected to walk around 25 miles per day and claim that the entire journey could take between three to four months to complete.

Topp spoke to supporters in Vancouver saying, “Determination, dedication, perseverance. The sounds of our footsteps are going to carry on in front of us. They are going to hear our feet out east.”

The veteran acknowledged that he was inspired by Canadian Terry Fox, who after losing his right leg to cancer in 1977 at age 18, attempted to cross Canada on foot to raise money for cancer research, in what became known as the Marathon of Hope.

Fox was taken ill after cancer returned to his lungs on September 1st, 1980 after running for 5,373 kilometres/3,338 miles. He died several months later on June 28th 1981.

A statue of Terry Fox in Ottawa was involved in the early days of the Freedom Convoy protests after some claimed protestors had defaced the statue after placing a sign stating “Mandate Freedom” and a Canadian flag on the statue.

Topp’s long march across Canada comes as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau maintains his powers under the Emergencies Act, despite border blockades having ended before he invoked the act and the Ottawa protest being cleared last weekend.

A vote in the House of Commons on Monday evening saw members of Trudeau’s Liberals and the far-left New Democrats (NDP) pass a motion to approve of the use of the act, while the Conservatives and the separatist Bloc Quebecois opposed the invocation of the act.

Labelling Dissenters as Domestic Terrorists Endangers Democracy

Labelling Dissenters as Domestic Terrorists Endangers Democracy

The Canadian government is cracking down on legitimate protestors by criminalising their words. America is following suit, labelling dissenters as “domestic terrorists”. Trudeau and Biden seem to have scant regard for democracy.

Two organisers of Canada’s peaceful Freedom Convoy, Chris Barber and Tamara Lich, were arrested last week, after the Trudeau government earlier last week invoked the Emergencies Act, formerly the War Measures Act.

As part of its crackdown on mandate critics, Canada has also expanded the definition of “terrorist financing” in order to freeze bank accounts and seize the property of protesters and donors.

Canadian civil rights groups have strongly denounced the move, arguing that the high threshold for an emergency has not been met and that the use of these powers must not be normalised. The Canadian Civil Liberties Association has announced that it is suing the government over Trudeau’s effective criminalisation of peaceful dissent.

American Censorship

Meanwhile, south of the border, President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security has issued a “National Terrorism Advisory System Bulletin”, suggesting that if a citizen opposes mask and vaccine mandates, they may be a “domestic violent extremist”.

According to the bulletin, released earlier this month, the United States is experiencing a “heightened threat environment”. It warns that “threat actors seek to exacerbate societal friction to sow discord and undermine public trust in government institutions to encourage unrest, which could potentially inspire acts of violence.”

In describing the sorts of “false or misleading narratives” that could motivate people to commit violent acts, the bulletin lists “widespread election fraud” at the 2020 election, and the perceived harms of “5G cellular technology”.

The DHS dispatch likewise cautioned that “COVID-19 mitigation measures — particularly COVID-19 vaccine and mask mandates — have been used by domestic violent extremists to justify violence since 2020 and could continue to inspire these extremists” to carry out attacks.

Among the other dangers listed were more reasonable threats with clear precedents, such as mass shootings or religiously-motivated terrorist attacks by foreign-funded groups.

Adam Turner, director of the watchdog group Center to Advance Security in America, this week denounced the Biden administration’s targeting of political opponents.

“What is a ‘misleading narrative’, and who’s deciding what’s misleading?” he asked in an interview with the Washington Times. “I think they’re referring to people that don’t agree with whatever their talking points are for that time,” he added.

So slippery was the DHS guidance that under its terms, President Biden himself could be considered a domestic terrorist threat! Last month, Biden questioned the integrity of the upcoming elections, claiming that if the Democrats can’t pass certain voting bills before the midterms, this may increase “the prospect of [the results] being illegitimate”.

Of course, the bulletin was issued under a White House eager to subdue dissent, and would therefore not apply to the President or his Administration. And that is precisely the problem — a problem that threatens the social contract that is democracy.

Alarmingly, this isn’t the first time that everyday Americans who see things differently to the Biden administration have been labelled a domestic threat.

During the latter half of 2021, news outlets reported on a series of heated exchanges between school boards and parents who wanted to see the end of mask mandates, critical race theory and trans ideology in schools.

Following this, the National School Boards Association (NSBA) wrote to the Biden administration, characterising parents as potential “domestic terrorists” and seeking White House intervention. In response, Biden’s attorney general Merrick Garland issued a memo calling for FBI investigations under the Patriot Act — the United States’ controversial anti-terrorism laws.

After public outcry, the NSBA ultimately apologised for its letter.

A month later, it was revealed that the NSBA had been actively engaging with the White House while drafting their “parents-as-domestic-terrorists” correspondence. Indeed, there is strong evidence that a close Biden advisor, the Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, had solicited the letter.

Dying Democracies

Whether in Canada or the United States, the weaponising of anti-terrorist laws against peaceful opponents is an untenable situation. As explained by philosopher Yoram Hazony, electoral politics only works when both sides recognise each other’s legitimacy:

One party rules for a fixed term, but its rivals know they will get to rule in turn if they can win the next election. It is the possibility of being able to take power and rule the country without widespread killing and destruction that entices all sides to lay down their weapons and take up electoral politics instead.”

Western nations have long enjoyed the peace and prosperity that such an arrangement has secured for us. Refusing to label one’s political opponents “terrorists” is the minimal precondition for our happy arrangement to survive.

Can we please continue doing so?

Freedom Convoy Leader Accuses Police of Blocking Ottawa Protesters from Leaving

Freedom Convoy Leader Accuses Police of Blocking Ottawa Protesters from Leaving

A leading organiser of the Freedom Convoy protestors in Ottawa claimed on Friday that police are surrounding protestors and conducting mass arrests, while not allowing people to leave the area peacefully.

Organiser B.J. Dichter claimed on Twitter on Friday afternoon that police forces in Ottawa were escalating the situation on the ground and not allowing protestors to peacefully leave the area.

“Ottawa police are now boxing in ‘protestors’ and executing mass arrests. Once again escalating the situation and not allowing people to leave in peace. Why are you always escalating?” Dichter wrote.

Breitbart News attempted to contact the Ottawa police but was unable to reach a representative to confirm or deny Dichter’s allegations or reports of mass arrests. The Ottawa police hotline advised those concerned to check the police department’s Twitter account.

Dichter had previously called on protestors to leave Ottawa earlier in the day, claiming that one of the Freedom Convoy drivers had been dragged from his vehicle at gunpoint by police.

Several videos posted on Twitter have shown police breaking into vehicles and in some cases, police have been spotted at the protest armed with rifles.

According to Ottawa Police, 21 people have been arrested as of 2:21 pm eastern standard time and 21 vehicles have been towed.

The arrests come just hours after two of the main organisers of the Freedom Convoy, Tammy Lich and Chris Barber, were arrested on Thursday.

Lich, 49-years-old from Medicine Hat, Alberta, was charged Friday with counselling to commit the offence of mischief, while Barber, 46 from Swift Current, Saskatchewan, was charged with counselling to commit the offence of mischief, counselling to commit the offence of disobeying a court order and counselling to commit the offence of obstructing police.

Lich had commented prior to her arrest that she was resigned at the fact that she would be arrested and noted that her bank account had been frozen.

Following the invocation of the Emergencies Act for the first time in Canadian history by leftist Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the government announced it would be freezing the bank accounts of people linked to the protests.

Canada’s Justice Minister, David Lametti, commented on the topic of people worried their bank accounts may be frozen by the government saying, “Well, I think if you are a member of a pro-Trump movement who’s donating hundreds of thousands of dollars and millions of dollars to this kind of thing, they oughta be worried.”
