10 Pro-Abortion Protesters Arrested in Portland for ‘Night of Rage’ Violence

10 Pro-Abortion Protesters Arrested in Portland for ‘Night of Rage’ Violence

Crowds dressed in black descended on the city of Portland on Saturday night as part of a nationwide “Night of Rage” staged to protest the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to return abortion law to individual states, potentially limiting access to the procedure that was previously guaranteed federally by Roe v. Wade.

The Portland Police Bureau stated that the protesters damaged numerous businesses, but law enforcement was reportedly unable to intervene.

Several protesters were arrested after the demonstration became violent, according to the Hill:

Authorities in Oregon arrested 10 protesters who were part of a large crowd supporting abortion rights after the demonstration turned violent.

Nine people were charged with disorderly conduct including one person who was additionally charged with escape in the third degree and resisting arrest. One person was charged with harassment.

Police reportedly tried to disperse the crowd after protesters began hurling smoke bombs and filled water bottles at officers. Officials said officers began making arrests but members of the crowd resisted, some of them violently. Officers began shooting inert pepperballs at the feet of the protesters, the department added, which eventually broke up the demonstration.

“If abortions aren’t safe then you aren’t either,” a flier posted at the site of the protest read.

Police in the city of Eugene, Oregon, said in a news release that protesters clashed with officers and threw smoke bombs during the demonstration at a pregnancy center on Friday night.

In Portland, some protestors attacked another pro-life center, Mother and Child, which — according to its website — gives “practical help to thousands of pregnant women in the greater Portland area since its founding in 1971.”

A Starbucks and Bank of America were also damaged in the Portland protest.

And Oregon Live reported that an aide to left-wing Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, who supported violent protesters for months in the city following the death of George Floyd, called for more law enforcement.

“It’s despicable,” Sam Adams said in the report. “We need more police.”

‘Menstrual Dignity Act’: Oregon Public Schools to Stock Feminine Products in Boys’ Bathrooms

‘Menstrual Dignity Act’: Oregon Public Schools to Stock Feminine Products in Boys’ Bathrooms

Feminine products, including tampons and pads, will be placed in all boy’s restrooms at Oregon Public Schools starting in the 2022-2023 school year to comply with the state’s 2021 “Menstrual Dignity Act” law.

The law requires “that both tampons and sanitary pads are available at no cost to students through dispensers located” in all student bathrooms, including boys’ rooms at elementary, middle, and high schools and every other public school building in the state.

Currently, the law requires that tampon and pad dispensers are placed “in at least two student bathrooms of every public school building.” “Student bathrooms” in the legislation refers to girls’ rooms, boys’ rooms, and unisex bathrooms. The change goes into effect on July 1, 2022.

Portland Public School (PPS) announced in an April 17 release that it had begun preparing for the upcoming requirements:

Starting next year (2022-23), products will be available in all restrooms (male, female, and all-gender) in every PPS building where education occurs. To ensure timely compliance, PPS ordered 500 dispensers. Dispensers have been installed in all elementary and middle school girls’ restrooms, and more will be installed in all remaining bathrooms, including boys’ restrooms, next year. Instructions for how to use tampons and pads will be posted in all bathrooms.

The release later added that all K-12 schools are receiving “basic lessons around the four pillars of Menstrual Dignity including Privacy, Inclusivity, Access, and Education” from the “Health and Adapted/Physical Education team.”

Oregon has also published a 26-page Menstrual Dignity for Students Tool Kit, the introduction of which reads in part:

Importantly, this law affirms the right to menstrual dignity for transgender, intersex, nonbinary, and two spirit students by addressing the challenges that some students have managing menstruation while minimizing negative attention that could put them at risk of harm and navigating experiences of gender dysphoria during menstruation. Research also connects gender-affirming bathroom access to supporting student safety at school.

Bridget Barton, who is running as a candidate in the state’s Republican Gubernatorial primary, ripped the law while speaking with Fox News Digital:

Radical leftist woke policies are destroying Oregon from our streets to our businesses to our schools. But as a mom, a new grandmother, and a Republican candidate for Oregon governor, I can’t believe we’re even discussing this — America’s most unpopular governor, Kate Brown, is putting free tampons in the boys bathrooms of Oregon’s elementary schools.

Clearly Brown cares more about what’s going on in the bathrooms than what’s going on in the classrooms.

A similar law was also passed in Illinois last year. Republican Illinois state Rep. Avery Bourne noted at the time that elementary school-aged boys were likely to misuse the products, the Center Square reported.

“When you give a grade school boy something that’s adhesive, they’re going to put it in places,” Bourne said. “These products are not inexpensive and they are going to be misused if they are placed in elementary school boys’ bathrooms.”

Portland Children’s Hospital Instructs Kids To Bind Their Genitals And Solicit Sex Shops

Portland Children’s Hospital Instructs Kids To Bind Their Genitals And Solicit Sex Shops

Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland has been teaching “safe tucking” and “chest binding” to minors confused about their sex, even referring them to a local sex shop as a resource. Chest binding means putting pressure on breasts to hide them, and tucking means similarly treating male genitals.

Doernbecher, a division of Oregon Health and Science University, operates a “gender clinic” for “transgender and gender-nonconforming children and teens.” The “clinic” provides puberty suppression, hormones, and genital mutilation (under the name “gender-affirming surgery”) to children confused about their sex.

Teaching Kids to Tie Up Their Organs

The hospital’s “Safe Tucking” handout describes ways for boys confused about their biology to hide their healthy organs. “Tucking can reduce any concerns you have about your body, how your clothes fit and how safe you feel in public,” the handout reads.

Doernbecher advises youth to use tight underwear — or even tape — to hide their genitalia. “There are two main ways to tuck: with tape and without. You might find that simply wearing tight underwear smooths things out enough,” the handout continues.

The hospital even goes so far as to instruct boys on “putting your testicles inside your body.”

“This part of tucking is not for everyone. … But if you want to try it, here are the steps,” the handout says, before proceeding to describe this process. I’ll refrain from discussing further details for the reader’s sake, but Doernbecher offers a diagram of the process for children. While the hospital gives confused boys instructions on how to hide their genitalia, it acknowledges several side effects, including urinary tract infections and loss of circulation.

Doernbecher also offers a handout entitled “About Chest Binding.” This handout describes ways for girls confused about their sex to hide their feminine biology.

“Chest binding can help people of any gender feel more comfortable with the way their chest looks and feels,” the handout reads.

The hospital instructs girls on ways to measure their chests for binding, in order to flatten their breasts. At the same time, however, Doernbecher acknowledges the potential health complications, noting that improper binding “can keep you from breathing normally, make fluid build up in your lungs and even cause serious injuries, such as broken ribs.”

Giving Kids Sex Shop Recommendations

If that wasn’t enough, Doernbecher refers minors to sex shops as resources. In instructing boys where to find “tucking clothing,” the hospital boasted that one shop, Origami Customs, has been featured by Planned Parenthood. The business aims to be “anti-capitalist,” according to its website.

Origami Customs is “a company that offers people of any size, shape, age, ability and gender expression a safe way to have customized items that meet their needs,” the site says. “While we can’t say that any company is truly anti-capitalist, we are trying our hardest to find a better way to be.”

Doernbecher also refers children to a local sex shop called “SheBop.”

“SheBop is a sex-positive shop in Portland. They sell gender-affirming clothing items as well as sex toys, videos and more,” the “tucking” handout originally read. (Since I originally took a screenshot of the page on March 17, the references to sex toys and videos appear to have been quietly removed.)

SheBop advocates for “equity in the adult industry,” according to the shop’s website.

“There is no one-size-fits-all approach to sex education or pleasure,” the website reads. “We are working to decenter whiteness — in our hiring practices, education program, product selection, and beyond. We recognize there is more to equity than dildo skin tones.”

SheBop is officially only open to adults, but Doernbecher recommended children contact the shop outside of business hours.

“The shop is for people age 18 and older, but they offer appointments before or after hours for younger shoppers. You can schedule an appointment by calling them or emailing,” the handout originally noted. (The language has since been changed to note the need for a parent or guardian and a consent form.)

Damaging Kids’ Minds and Bodies

The handout’s recommendations potentially violate state law, as ORS 167.075 and ORS 167.080 prohibit “exhibiting an obscene performance to a minor” and “displaying obscene materials to minors.” I reached out to the Doernbecher Gender Clinic and SheBop for comment but did not receive a response in time for publication.

Doctors usually begin taking steps to repress children’s biological sex around puberty, according to the hospital’s website. “Medical treatment usually doesn’t begin until puberty. This is commonly age 10 or 11,” the website says. “We are happy to meet with you and your child before that, though.”

The United Kingdom’s High Court affirmed the obvious in December 2020: Children do not have the capacity to appropriately weigh gender transition treatment. “There is no age appropriate way to explain to many of these children what losing their fertility or full sexual function may mean to them in later years,” the High Court said, in a decision that was later appealed.

Youth who describe themselves as transgender also face higher risks of depression, self-harm, anxiety, suicidal ideation, or attempting suicide by two to three times, according to a study published by the National Institutes of Health.

The Left Doesn’t Just Want More Criminals On The Streets. It Also Wants Police To Be Scared Of Doing Their Jobs

The Left Doesn’t Just Want More Criminals On The Streets. It Also Wants Police To Be Scared Of Doing Their Jobs

The left is keen on letting criminals, even those who ransacked the nation’s cities in 2020, off the hook in the name of social justice. Now, that same left is trying to deter law enforcement from doing their jobs by denying officers who fought off violent 2020 rioters legal representation while U.S. attorneys lobby to let agitators off scot-free.

At least one federal employee who sought legal representation from President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice after being sued for protecting the federal courthouse during the 2020 summer-of-rage riots was denied by the legal agency. After Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., threatened to stall any Biden administration DOJ nominees due to the agency’s unwillingness to represent a federal agent for doing his or her duties and defending government property from rioters, the DOJ admitted that’s exactly what it had done but did not apologize.

“These courageous officers were attacked by left-wing street militants with weapons such as mortar fire, ball bearings, and blinding lasers,” Cotton wrote in a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland. “A refusal to represent these Deputy Marshals would violate the Department’s long-standing practice — not to mention its moral duty — to defend law-enforcement officers when they’re sued for actions in the line of duty.”

For years, progressive district attorneys have ushered in a new era of lax policies that let criminals accused of violent and destructive crimes back onto the streets. This has led crime in U.S. cities to worsen dramatically.

Instead of prosecuting the thousands of rioters who sacked cities across the nation during the 2020 summer of rage, federal prosecutors have ignored the $2 billion rioting damages and quietly dismissed charges against dangerous and destructive rioters in Portland, D.C., and other cities. Among those whom U.S. attorneys asked to be spared of federal criminal charges was a transgender rioter in Portland who intentionally attacked law enforcement officers using a laser.

Many of these violent rioters, who were bailed out on the recommendation of now-Vice President Kamala Harris and progressive-backed initiatives implemented by leftist DAs, were free to walk despite looting, rioting, and burning businesses and government buildings.

While more than 700 people have been arrested in connection to the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, the FBI only arrested “just north of 250 people” for “violence that we all saw around the peaceful protests,” as Assistant Director of the FBI’s national security branch Jill Sanborn said during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing this month.

Americans are rightfully outraged about these pro-criminal policies and actions, but their concerns about “soft-on-crime” DAs and criminals in the streets are routinely mocked by Biden’s White House.

The Biden administration, Democrats, and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s rigged Jan. 6 commission love heaping accusations on Republicans for the actions of people who spent hours at the Capitol. On the other hand, rioters who spent months destroying cities and personal property get a pat on the back from leftists while police officers struggle to do their jobs and keep the public safe.

The left wants control and will target anyone who undermines their goal. That’s why they sicced the mob on armed civilians such as Kyle Rittenhouse. Leftists already endorsed letting anarchists run rampant in the streets and have deterred law enforcement officers from doing what they were hired to do. And they don’t want people such as Rittenhouse getting in their way.

8 Times Left-Wing Protesters Broke Into Government Buildings And Assaulted Democracy

8 Times Left-Wing Protesters Broke Into Government Buildings And Assaulted Democracy

Self-absorbed congressional Democrats held a group therapy session on Capitol Hill on Thursday as they work tirelessly to immortalize Jan. 6 as an annual day of doom, but the rest of us are old enough to remember a few more times when riots and protests overwhelmed government buildings with no such theatrical response.

More than a few times, actually. The 2020 summer of rage was more or less “incited” by these same top Democrats, who race-baited as if their lives depended on it, and even our vice president, who helped bail violent rioters out of jail. It featured a number of these attacks on the government (which strangely weren’t called attacks on democracy at the time).

Not all of these demonstrations were allegedly a response to the Minnesota death of George Floyd, however. Left-wing demonstrators have long made a habit of attacking, infiltrating, and occupying government buildings. It started long before Jan. 6, 2021, and continued long after.

1. Interior Department Overtaken

Can you spot the difference between these two insurrection photos?

Didn’t think so. One of them was compared to Pearl Harbor and 9/11 by our vice president. The other one barely made the news and was referred to as a mere “sit-in.” Both were attacks by political activists on government buildings.

On Oct. 14, 2021, climate activists breached the Interior Department, with demonstrators who were left outside struggling with law enforcement officers as they reportedly tried to force their way in, shouting “Go inside! Go inside!” Some activists vandalized a building, while others pinned police against a wall. The ordeal resulted in a number of injuries, according to multiple sources, with a police officer being transported to the hospital.

2. President Moved to Bunker After White House Fence Breach

In June 2020, then-President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and their son Barron were reportedly rushed to a secure bunker when a group of protesters breached temporary barricades that had been set up around the White House complex.

Secret Service reportedly arrested and charged at least four protesters with unlawful entry at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

3. Wisconsin Capitol Overwhelmed

In 2011, thousands of people opposed to Republican Gov. Scott Walker filled the Wisconsin state Capitol, screaming in opposition to the governor’s budget repair bill.

4. Portland Federal Courthouse Overtaken by Violence

The federal courthouse in Portland has been a repeated target of violent Antifa rioters. In July 2020, a mob began setting fires inside the fence protecting the courthouse, shaking the fence, launching projectiles over it, and even trying to take it down. Several people even breached it, with rioters launching projectiles and flashing lasers at the federal police officers who responded.

The next month, the courthouse was shut down completely over domestic terrorism threats that someone might drive a vehicle filled with explosives into the building.

Just hours after a security fence was removed from the courthouse in March 2021, rioters broke glass and lit fires once again.

Antifa had previously attempted to menace people inside the federal courthouse on the afternoon of March 11, yelling “come outside,” “you don’t scare me b-tch,” “death to America,” and “f-ck the United States” while hurling water and other liquids inside the glass doors, banging on them, and attempting to get inside.

5. Democracy Halted at the Texas Capitol

In July 2013, an unruly mob of pro-abortion demonstrators interfered with the democratic process when thousands of them occupied the Texas Capitol and screamed at the top of their lungs, “grinding the Senate to a halt” with the noise.

6. SCOTUS Police Lines Breached, Senate Overwhelmed by Anti-Kavanaugh Activists

During the dustup over now-Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination and confirmation to the Supreme Court, which was radically amplified thanks to the Christine Blasey Ford circus, demonstrators forced their way past law enforcement, breaching police lines at both the Senate and the Supreme Court, where they stormed the steps and beat on the doors.

After announcing that he planned to vote for Kavanaugh’s confirmation, then-Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., was accosted on an elevator by several women, who shouted in his face and wouldn’t let him move.

At the beginning of October, shortly before the Senate voted to confirm Kavanaugh, a mob of protesters took over a part of the Hart Senate Office Building, which is part of the Capitol complex.

Some even made their way into the gallery during the final vote.

7. Senate Bombed by Left-Wing Terrorists

Linda Evans and Susan Rosenberg, two left-wing extremists, along with five others planted a bomb outside the Senate chamber inside the U.S. Capitol, where it detonated and caused $1 million in damage in 1983.

On his last day as president, Jan. 20, 2001, Bill Clinton commuted the sentences of the violent pair, spurred on by his Democrat buddy Jerry Nadler. As Tristan Justice wrote:

According to the New York Post in 2001, New York Democratic Rep. Jerry Nadler, who today serves as the House Judiciary Committee chairman, played a ‘crucial role’ in Clinton’s decision to commute Rosenberg’s sentence. Nadler’s rabbi, a Nadler spokesman at the time told the Post, gave ‘compelling information from [Rosenberg’s] parole hearing’ to the Manhattan congressman, who, in turn, passed on the material to the White House counsel’s office. That transfer, the Post reported, played a ‘key role’ in the president’s decision to include Rosenberg on his list of 140 last-minute pardons just moments before George W. Bush took the White House.

Each of the women served only 16 years of her long sentence. Rosenberg escaped 42 years of a 58-year sentence, and Evans trimmed 24 years off her 40-year sentence.

8. Senate Chamber Breached by Biden Himself

In now-President Joe Biden’s farewell address to the Senate in 2009, he claimed to have broken into the chamber and sat in the vice president’s chair when he was 21 years old. The first time he stood on the Senate floor was when he visited with friends in the early 1960s, he said.

“I remember vividly the first time I walked in this chamber. I walked through those doors, but I walked through those doors as a 21-year-old tourist,” Biden claimed. “In those days, you could literally drive right up to the front steps. … I drove up to the steps and there had been a rare Saturday session. It had just ended. So I walked up the steps, found myself in front of what we call the elevators, and I walked to the right to the Reception Room.”

“There was no one there. The glass doors, those French doors that lead behind the chamber, were open. There were no signs then. I just walked,” Biden continued. “…I sat in the presiding officer’s chair. I was mesmerized.”

He was then caught by a Capitol Police officer. I wonder if Biden thinks his self-guided Capitol tour “borders on sedition“?

Antifa Slut Charged With Felony

Antifa Slut Charged With Felony

slut

Self-proclaimed Antifa slut Alissa Azar was totally shocked that a judge in Clackamas County, Oregon would dare to allow prosecutors to charge her with crimes for attacking the Proud Boys with chemical weapons. The grand jury insisted something had to be done.

Antifa slut on the offensive

She’s just another Antifa slut, 30-year-old Alissa Eleanor Azar insists. There’s no reason for Portland, Oregon police to single her out for criminal charges. It seems that the flamingly liberal Democrat city leaders are learning that those peaceful protesters aren’t as harmless as they’re advertised.

She was charged with “felony riot, two misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct in the second degree and unlawful use of stun gun, tear gas or mace in the second degree.”

Paramedics, paralegals, why not paramilitary forces? Democrats can’t arm and supply an army, at least not officially and out in the open. Instead, the same New World Order globalists who pull Joe Biden’s puppet strings arm and supply irregular forces.

It’s no coincidence that all those Black Lives Matter™ groups and Antifa® militia units have all the black bloc battle armor and bear spray that they need. U-Hauls packed with everything from posters to riot gear pull up conveniently, wherever there’s a peaceful protest. Speaking both Arabic and English, she seems proud of her slut badge too. Azar tells the world she’s “just a slutty anarchist” and really doesn’t know “what else to tell you.”

slut

Back on June 18, the obedient mercenary was on hand to skirmish with the Proud Boys in Oregon City’s Clackamette Park. It became a battlefield that day because “right-wing and conservative activists” held a voter registration drive.

Slut girl was cheesed off that units of Proud Boy irregulars “wearing symbols” were “in attendance.” Since the police have been defunded, conservatives or anyone who prefers law and order to arson and looting must band together and remain vigilant.

Proud Boy Vigilante Security

Because you never know what kind of improvised weapons those slut sex worker anarchists are packing, Proud Boys sent “men in riot gear and shields acting as volunteer security.” It was a good thing too, because ahead of the event, “Portland Antifa and far-left accounts on Twitter called for a counter direct-action.”

They didn’t day protest or demonstration, they intentionally used the military term they know full well they’re organized insurgents in mufti. “Clashes broke out when the far-left militants moved to assault the right-wing side.”

The grand jury saw evidence in the form of images which captured the socialist slut “rushing in to pepper spray a woman in heels and a dress standing in the park before getting knocked to the ground by a right-wing fighter in riot gear.”

She’s already claiming the “Oliver North” defense of only following orders. “From the Antifa side, a man shouted repeatedly to Azar: ‘Mace the female!’”

slut

If she stuck to her profession as a sex-working slut she wouldn’t be in trouble. The problem is that she’s a “regular at Antifa riots in Portland.” That’s why her indictment makes her co-conspirators nervous. It’s “sending shockwaves across Antifa militants in the Pacific Northwest.”

Back in March, she was arrested in Multnomah County, where Portland is, for her role in an Antifa riot. That time, everything went as planned and “her case was dropped by district attorney Mike Schmidt.” Clackamas County district attorney John Wentworth didn’t get the memo.

Defunding BACKFIRES: Democrat City Ordering Ballistic Vests As Violence Surges

Defunding BACKFIRES: Democrat City Ordering Ballistic Vests As Violence Surges

Defunding BACKFIRES: Democrat City Ordering Ballistic Vests As Violence Surges

Defunding the police is continuing to backfire in Democrat-run areas, with one radical city ordering ballistic vests for its firefighters as violence surges.

Just as conservatives predicted, the “Defund the Police” movement is having serious consequences in radical leftist cities around the country, especially Portland, Oregon.

As violence surges, Portland firefighters will soon be wearing ballistic vests in addition to their other gear.

Terry Foster, a spokesperson for Portland Fire and Rescue (PFR), announced that the city’s decision to order ballistic vests for their firefighters was made due to the “changing landscape” and an increase in incidents where firefighters have had to deal with violent patients and bystanders.

Alan Ferschweiler, president of the Portland Firefighters’ Association (PFA), also spoke out about the decision.

“First responders, as they go in, we can become targets,” Ferschweiler said. “Even if you look at the totality of the city, it’s definitely become a less safe place to work for their firefighters. There’s no way to mince any words.”

The PFA has also agreed that the vests need to be stab-resistant.

Isaac McLennan, the PFA’s vice president, stated: “We always will do anything and everything to keep firefighters safe because that’s what keeps people in Portland safe.”

The city will be ordering approximately 200 of the ballistic vests in the near future. They will be designed specifically for the firefighters: red, with the word “medic” emblazoned on them.

According to McLennan, the push for ballistic vests has been growing steadily as the city has seen an increase in instances of people attacking or stabbing first responders.

“This is just another tool… to keep firefighters safe,” the union vice president said.

Ferschweiler also noted that he has personally been assaulted twice while on duty.

“It’s just become more of a dangerous time for first responders throughout the country,” he stated.

Violence in Democrat-run Portland has surged to record-breaking levels in the past year. According to reporting from The Oregonian, “The Portland Police Bureau reported 837 shootings through August [of 2021], with the largest year-over-year increase in the North Precinct, where 383 shootings were reported by Aug. 31 — a more than 100% increase from the same period in 2020.”

Of course, the left refuses to report on the causes of the increased violence, especially the “Defund the Police” movement. Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler supported cutting $16 million from the police budget in June of 2020, which was immediately followed by 100 consecutive days of rioting. Some reports indicate that, since the police budget was reduced, the city saw a 1900% increase in murders.

Portland Quietly Walks Back Boycott Of Texas Over Pro-Life Law

Portland Quietly Walks Back Boycott Of Texas Over Pro-Life Law

The city of Portland quietly abandoned its pledge to ban goods and services from Texas in protest of the Lone Star State’s new pro-life law, which prohibits abortions once an unborn baby’s heartbeat is detected, because it could be “punitive to Texans who, are in fact, the most affected.”

Despite the national attention the city’s original resolution received, the City Council walked back its proposed ban last week and instead voted to allocate $200,000 to “programs and services related to reproductive healthcare.” It is unclear which organizations will receive these funds.

“Will what we do today fundamentally change the mindset of Texas legislators? Probably not,” Portland City Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty told the Associated Press. “But what it will do is send a very strong message, to the people of Texas, that we don’t abandon them just because unfortunately they have the leadership that they have.”

Despite the original proposal’s shortcomings, Democrat Mayor Ted Wheeler staunchly defended the City Council’s efforts and reiterated his opposition to the Texas law.

“I’ve heard some suggest that this [law] has no bearing on our local community. … I could not disagree more,” Wheeler said during a meeting on Wednesday. “If this Texas law, restricting the rights of women, is allowed to stand then it will spread to other states — it will jeopardize Roe v. Wade and it will impact our constituents here in the city of Portland.”

The City Council and Wheeler previously made national headlines for promising to ban goods and services as well as city-sponsored travel to and from Texas.

“This law does not demonstrate concern for the health, safety, and well-being of those who may become pregnant. This law does not recognize or show respect for the human rights of those who may become pregnant,” Wheeler said in a statement. “This law rewards private individuals for exercising surveillance and control over others’ bodies. It violates the separation of church and state. And, it will force people to carry pregnancies against their will.”

Corporate media amplified Wheeler’s threats and boosted rhetoric from the City Council, which called the Texas law an “unconstitutional ban on abortion” and a violation of “human rights of those who may become pregnant.”

“We stand with Chief Justice John Roberts, Justice Elena Kagan, Justice Stephen Breyer, and Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who fought to block this attack on the reproductive rights, freedom, and autonomy of people across the country,” the City Council’s statement said, echoing the same “surveillance and control” rhetoric as Wheeler.

When asked by The Federalist earlier in September which goods and services would be affected by the now-irrelevant ban, the city’s public information officer merely said there was “a total of $34,656,323 in goods and services originating from Texas during the past five years” and that “there were a total of 19 trips made by City employees to Texas within the last 2 years.” Questions about whether the ban would extend to oil or even flights from Texas were left unanswered even when the City Council postponed the original vote.
