House Republicans disband subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties

“Oversight Republicans are realigning subcommittees to ensure the efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability of the federal government and all its agencies.”

By Ben Whedon

House Republicans on the Oversight and Accountability Committee have disbanded the Civil Rights and Civil Liberties subcommittee, but remain adamant that lawmakers would continue to address such issues.

“Let me be very clear: any topic that’s not mentioned in the subcommittee jurisdiction is reserved for the full committee. We can have a committee hearing in this committee on basically anything we want,” said committee chairman Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., according to The Hill.

Democrats were livid at the news, contending that the GOP’s elimination of the panel indicated that such matters were not of meaningful import to lawmakers.

Texas Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett said the move sends an “unmistakable message to the American people that their civil rights and civil liberties are no longer a priority” in Congress.

A spokesperson for the committee told The Hill that the subcommittee’s disbandment was the product of a GOP reorganization of various administrative panels for efficiency purposes.

“Oversight Republicans are realigning subcommittees to ensure the efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability of the federal government and all its agencies,” the spokesperson said. “Going forward, subcommittees will now be better equipped to meet our mission, identify problems, and propose meaningful legislative reforms for the American people.”

James Comer Ready to Investigate ‘Anyone’ in Business with the Bidens

James Comer Ready to Investigate ‘Anyone’ in Business with the Bidens

BREITBART

House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) said on Monday that he is prepared to investigate “anyone that was in business with the Bidens,” as the committee prepares to hold its first public hearing relating to its investigation of President Joe Biden.

Speaking with reporters at the National Press Club, Comer said he expects Hunter Biden’s “bank records,” to shed light on the Biden family’s possible unlawful business practices.

“Anyone that was in business with the Bidens, that were on these accounts, that were partners in these LLCs, they need to tell everyone exactly what the business was,” Comer said. “You got a two-, three-million-dollar wire from this company that’s affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party, what service were you providing? Because it wasn’t real estate. They weren’t manufacturing anything. What were they doing?”

Comer’s remarks came just days after the Treasury Department denied the Oversight Committee’s “request to disclose 150 suspicious reports flagged by U.S. banks concerning Biden family business transactions,” as Breitbart News reported.

Financial institutions flag for review suspicious wire transfers over $10,000, and wire transfers above that threshold are also reported to the Internal Revenue Services.

As Breitbart News’s Wendell Husebø explained:

The suspicious records will provide details about how the family business operates and desired transparency on Hunter’s anonymous art sales and foreign business transactions, along with knowledge of whether Joe Biden remains compromised by foreign governments through his family’s business.

Comer has already raised concerns about Hunter Biden being “the recipient of anonymous, high-dollar transactions — potentially from foreign buyers” in a letter sent to George Berges, Hunter Biden’s New York art dealer.

Despite Comer’s inquiries, Comer told reporters at the National Press Club that he has no plans to bring Hunter Biden before the Oversight Committee to testify.

“Right now, we just want the bank records,” Comer said of Hunter Biden.

“We’re investigating the president,” Comer said. “[This] isn’t a Hunter Biden investigation. This is an investigation of the president.”

Comer criticized the Treasury for failing to comply with the committee’s request for the banks’ suspicious activity reports relating to the Biden family.

Jordan Peterson announces World Economic Forum alternative [Video]

A  soon to be announced meeting will present an “alternative” to the kind of “apocalyptic narrative” that’s being put forward by the WEF

By Madeleine Hubbard

Dr. Jordan Peterson announced that he has set up an international consortium with the goal of creating an alternative to the “apocalyptic narrative” espoused at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

About 2,000 people will be invited to the consortium meeting in London in late October through early November, Peterson told podcaster Joe Rogan in an interview aired Saturday.

He said the meeting will present an “alternative to that kind of apocalyptic narrative that’s being put forward at least implicitly by organizations like the WEF.”

The consortium will focus on how to “get energy and resources at the lowest possible cost as rapidly as possible to the largest number of people around the world” and how to encourage “long-term monogamous couples who are child-centered and to make increasing the birth rate part of that policy,” among other things.

The Man Who Loved Sunsets

The Man Who Loved Sunsets

The Man Who Loved Sunsets

By: Bill the Butcher

That’s just the way it is

The desert is full of scorpions. You expect it. They hide from the heat during the day, and forage at night. If you encroach on them, they will encroach on you. That’s just the way it is.

Memphis is full of police. You expect it. They come out at night, to enforce the law. They serve and protect . . . Each other. In the city that gave the world Elvis, the police became scorpions. They came out at night, and foraged. They crumbled up the Bill of Rights, and one young man going home to his mother.

••••

Special Crimes Units

America is tired of violent crime, cartels, active shooters, and perverse behavior. No matter who does it! In 1776 America was tired of the same things. Back in those days it was the British. Now it’s Special Crimes Units. While there may be a reason for these men when going against a Mexican Cartel in Del Rio, but why were they even involved in a simple traffic stop? License and registration please kind of stuff. And why so many? I mean, I know they run in gangs, but are they that weak? God forbid Tyre had a gun, and was a real Home Boy. Then the cops would have been screaming for they mamas, huh?

Policemen (and women). are human. Well, mostly. They have good days, and bad days. Good calls, and bad ones. Those who became law enforcement for the right reasons, and those who have an axe to grind. The officers who stop a speeding motorist and end up delivering a baby in the back seat of the car . . . and then there are the ones who kill a citizen while he’s going home to his mother. More popularly known as systemic racism.

••••

The division of America

The division of America has gone far enough! When a young man is murdered by a street gang on his way home it doesn’t matter if you call the gang The Bloods, or Sinaloa, or Scorpions! The song remains the same, and dead is dead! And here come the opinions. I had breakfast with an idiot yesterday who was justifying the perpetrators of The Murder in Memphis. He actually told me this was only one incident. Crime in Memphis was out of control, and the cops had good reason to act like that. All I could think of was the fact that I was paying for this jack ass’s breakfast, and then found out that his wife was putting food from the buffet in her purse to take home for later. God Bless ‘Murica!

••••

With a long tall tree an five short pieces of rope

I’m just A Simple Ol’ Boy From Austin, but I could save the State of Tennessee a lot of money with a long tall tree and five short pieces of rope! Then there’d be a few less Scorpions prowling the streets looking for victims. Did that hurt your feelings? Did that chase you to your safe rooms. Tyre’s mother didn’t have a safe room. Her safe room is in some Memphis Funeral home, and in the words of Lisa Presley, another Memphis mother, you never get over this particular kind of grief. A mother’s loss of her child never goes away. Lisa rests beside her son today. Tyre’s mother will lay beside her’s after the lawyers construct a defense for the indefensible!

Today is Sunday. A day of rest. A day of prayer. Pray for Memphis. Pray for America. Pray for yourselves. This is not going to go away. It will only get worse. When Scorpions become Officer O’Malley again the tide may begin to turn, but it will never go away, and Tyre will never come up out of the ground. Only one man did that, after licensed police officers killed Him. Two thousand years later they are still a bunch of Pharisees misinterpreting the letter of man’s law and the spirit of G-d’s law, but it’s a short walk from G-d to G-d Damn! May G-d Damn those men who murdered that boy! To serve and protect! My Texas ass!

‘We Created a Monster’: Djokovic Makes Australian History in the Country That Deported Him

Djokovic’s historic Australian Open win is a reminder that principles matter more than victory, and that adversity can be the best medicine.

Last night Novak Djokovic made Australian history, winning his 10th Australian Open title at an electric Rod Laver Arena, defeating up-and-coming Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece in straight sets (6-3, 7-6, 7-6).

The win, which Djokovic called “the biggest victory” of his life, puts him on equal footing with Rafael Nadal’s 22 Grand Slam men’s single titles and returns him to the world number one spot.

It was an emotional night for the 35-year-old Serbian, who fought a hamstring injury throughout the Open and then saw his father miss last night’s final due to an off-court controversy late last week. On winning, Novak clambered up into the stands with his family and team, where he sobbed uncontrollably for several minutes before the awards ceremony commenced.

Australia has proven to be a centre of gravity for Djokovic, who won his first Australian Open in 2008, and two decades ago launched his professional career at the same tournament.

An Icon of Free Choice

“This has been one of the most challenging tournaments that I’ve played in my life,” Djokovic told crowds during his Churchill-esque victory speech last night. “Given the circumstances, not playing last year… I want to thank everyone who made me come back and made me welcome.”

It was Djokovic’s subtle reference to the humiliating saga he endured last year, when Australian authorities kicked him out of the country for his personal stance on mandated COVID-19 injections.

Critics and the legacy press variously blamed Djokovic’s deportation on his vaccine-free status and visa application errors. However, as reported by the Daily Declaration, Australian Government representatives made it clear their decision to deport the tennis star was to prevent “an increase in anti-vaccination sentiment” and to keep “an icon of free choice” out of the country.

Ironically, then-Prime Minister Scott Morrison claimed that barring Djokovic from entering Australia somehow protected the country, even as the virus was spreading uncontrolled among the ‘vaccinated’ along Australia’s east coast.

‘We Created a Monster’

Australian Nick Kyrgios, who faced Djokovic in last year’s Wimbledon final, believes the Serb’s deportation only fuelled his desire to take home this summer’s Aussie title. “Haha I told you,” Kyrgios tweeted after Novak’s win. “We created a monster. Well done @DjokerNole.”

Kyrgios was a vocal critic of Australia’s treatment of Djokovic last year. “For the sport, we need him here,” he said at the time. “I just want it to end. I’m feeling for him now, it’s not really humane what’s going on.”

Kyrgios then predicted a principled Novak would channel any feelings of vengeance towards his opponents on court. “He’s going to be very determined to play well and stick it to everyone [because] of what’s going on,” Kyrgios remarked — also warning, “If he’s allowed to play the Australian Open, I don’t want any bar of him.”

‘I Became the Villain of the World’

In spite of how he was treated, Djokovic — who is an Orthodox Christian — has guarded his heart from bitterness. “I don’t hold any grudges. Definitely not against the people of Australia,” he said earlier this month. “I think me being here proves how much I really want to be here and how much I want to play, and how much I like it.”

Nor has Djokovic shied away from discussing what he endured. “All of a sudden, I became the villain of the world which was obviously a terrible position to be in as an athlete and someone who is looking to thrive in its own direction of life and profession,” he said earlier this month. “But that’s something that I had to learn how to handle.”

Novak invested his time off court in further developing the skills that helped him secure his weekend win in Melbourne. “The fact that I wasn’t playing for several months at the beginning of last year allowed me to really get together with my team and work on my body, on my strokes.”

Djokovic’s historic win is a reminder that, even when big sacrifices are required, principles matter more than victory — and victory is still possible in the long run, anyway.

Trump in So. Carolina, his 2nd campaign event of the day, after appearing in New Hampshire

Trump in So. Carolina, his 2nd campaign event of the day, after appearing in New Hampshire

Trump chose to kick off his ’24 campaign with two, smaller policy-based speeches, compared to the stadium-sized ones of 2016.

By Just the News staff

Former President Donald Trump on Saturday slammed President Joe Biden’s handling of the presidency, vowing to take back the White House in 2024 and reverse what he said was a precipitous decline in the United States since the Democrat took office.

Trump was speaking to a crowd at the South Carolina state capitol, his second campaign event of the day after appearing before the New Hampshire Republican party earlier.

South Carolina is a traditional Republican stronghold and a longtime bastion of conservative U.S. politics. The former president won the state resoundingly in both the 2016 and 2020 election; addressing the crowd, he vowed to win it by an even larger margin in 2024.

“Joe Biden has put America on the fast track to ruin and destruction,” Trump told the small crowd at the capitol, “and we will ensure that he does not receive four more years.”

The Republican during his speech touted what he said was his own accomplished record while in the White House, including economic prosperity and secure border policy.

“We built hundreds and hundreds of miles of [border] wall,” he said. “And we had the greatest border in history.”

The president appeared with multiple key South Carolina GOP leaders including Gov. Henry McMaster and Sen. Lindsey Graham. They will lead Trump’s South Carolina presidential campaign, announced Trump, will also named to the team Ed McMullen and GOP Reps. Joe Wilson.

“The 2024 election is our one shot to save our country,” he said, “and we need a leader who is ready to do that on Day One. … Let’s complete the unfinished business of making America great again.”

Trump in his roughly 45-minute speech was also critical of “RINOs,” an acronym for “Republicans in name only” and reiterated is Day One agenda announced Friday that includes giving parents more authority over public school leaders and curriculum and ending the “weaponization” of the Justice Department.

Trump began the day’s events with a fiery rally speech in New Hampshire in which he told attendees he’s “more angry” and “committed” than he’s ever been.

Trump made a last-minute announcement to visit New Hampshire, after announcing weeks he would officially kick off his 2024 campaign with a rally this Saturday in South Carolina – which like New Hampshire is an early-voting state.

“I’m more angry now and I’m more committed now than I ever was,” Trump said in New Hampshire, at the state Republican party’s annual winter meeting.

Trump, who lost reelection in 2020, also argued that he’s leading in early polling in New Hampshire, after having announced his campaign just days after the November 2022 midterm elections.

“So far ahead in the polls,” he said. “One came out this morning. We’re way ahead. … We’re going to win and win very big.” Trump vowed.

However, a well-known state Republican insider said Trump winning the New Hampshire GOP presidential primary is far from certain.

“There’s an openness to a new generation of Republican leaders,” Mike Dennehy, a state GOP strategist and operative, told NBC News “That’s not to say that the president could not win. I do not think it’s a foregone conclusion, New Hampshire Republican. He’s going to have to earn it.”

South Carolina, meanwhile, is “an important state,” Trump spokeswoman Liz Harrington said on John Solomon Reports this week. “It’s a winner-takes-all state, an early primary state, and he has been very successful in the state of South Carolina.”

At the state capitol on Saturday, Trump touched on major issues such as the U.S. crime rate and controversial education policy.

“We’re going to end the free rein of violent criminals in Democrat-run cities and keep dangerous repeat offenders locked up in jail where they belong,” he said.

“We’re going to stop the left-wing radical racists and perverts who are trying to indoctrinate our youth,” he added, “and we’re going to get their Marxist hands off our children.”

In the leadup to the day’s events, national media took note of the impending campaign blitz and the pivotal portents it might bring after today.

“In the next 48 hours,” Time’s Philip Elliot wrote this week, “we will get a better sense of whether former President Donald Trump deserves his reputation as the candidate to beat in 2024 or if he’s merely part of the still-forming blob that is the Republican field of White House hopefuls.”

Adam Schiff  lectures about ‘democracy’ – he’s exposed as one of its Greatest Threats

Republicans must reveal how deep the rot goes

DailyMail

Republican Congressman George Santos is rightly in the middle of a media and political storm over his astonishing series of lies about everything from his career experience to his family history. It surely can’t be long before this ludicrous fabulist is booted out of public life for good.

But there’s another congressional fabulist whose lies are far more serious and who isn’t facing nearly the same level of scrutiny: Adam Schiff.

Schiff is the Santos of the Democratic Party – only much more dangerous. His deceptions are part of a far-reaching, left-wing establishment scheme to corrupt Big Tech and America’s intelligence and law enforcement agencies to serve the Democrats.

This has all been confirmed by the Twitter Files, a series of reports from independent journalists, who were given exclusive access to the company’s internal communications

Schiff, his party, and their media puppets lecture everyone endlessly about “our democracy.” Turns out, they’ve been the ones undermining it.

The Twitter revelations have come so thick and fast that Americans have barely had time to process them. As a result, one of the biggest scandals in U.S. history seems to be slipping by with zero accountability for the guilty parties.

Until now.

This week, Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy ejected Schiff from the powerful House Intelligence Committee, which oversees the FBI and other federal agencies with the ability to peer into the private lives of Americans.

Predictably, the mainstream media has characterized Schiff’s ousting as ‘political vengeance’. The New York Times called it, ‘a much-anticipated tit-for-tat.’

Of course, they would.

Schiff’s removal is not only justified, it is imperative if government is to restore any semblance of trust with the American people after years of deception.

It started in 2016.

We now know, thanks to Special Counsel John Durham, that the FBI worked in close coordination with Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign to create a false narrative of ‘Trump/Russia collusion.’ When cracks in the Russia hoax began to emerge, Schiff intervened to paper them over.

As House Republicans secure the first government cooperation for their probe of President Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents, pressure is building in national security circles to conduct a damage assessment that could determine if the storage of national secrets at insecure locations aided foreign powers.

On Thursday, two prominent figures — a new member of the House Intelligence Committee and the FBI’s former intelligence chief — became the latest to add their voices to calls for a national security assessment of the five tranches of documents found at Biden’s Wilmington, Del., home and his old think tank office in Washington D.C. since November.

“It’s not just a good idea. It’s an imperative. It has to be done,” retired FBI Assistant Director for Intelligence Kevin Brock told the “Just the News, Not Noise” television show. “Americans are disturbed enough at what seems to be the careless handling of classified documents by people most senior in our government.”

Brock said the argument for a national security investigation of the Biden documents is stronger than what his old agency used to open the Russia collusion probe against Donald Trump back in 2016. “Just based on what’s publicly known, there’s probably more predication that exists today to launch an investigation along these lines than there ever was to launch the Crossfire Hurricane investigation,” he said.

Rep. Austin Scott (R-Ga.), one of the newest members of House Intelligence, said Thursday he too supports a damage assessment because the documents were kept in an insecure location that could be accessed, including by Hunter Biden as he pursued foreign business deals.

“The difference I see is that Biden documents were in an area where other people clearly had access to them,” Scott told the John Solomon Reports podcast.

The congressman said his concerns are compounded by the “amount of wealth that the Biden family has” accumulated while Joe Biden lived mostly on a public servant’s salary over five decades and while his son Hunter Biden chased foreign business deals in countries like Russia, Ukraine and China.

“I don’t see how you accumulate the type of wealth that he has at those income levels,” he added.

Meanwhile, House Republicans on Thursday secured their first cooperation from the National Archives to gain information about Biden’s classified documents, ending a stalemate over a growing scandal that has rocked Washington and led to a request for all living former presidents and vice presidents to search their own possessions for any missing national secrets.

House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) told Just the News that his committee will be interviewing the National Archives’ top lawyer, Gary Stern, next Tuesday to get the first answers about what documents were found, where they were located and who may have had access to them.

“They have finally agreed to come in and sit down for a transcribed interview,” Comer said on the “Just the News, No Noise” television show on Real America’s Voice. “So we will be able to have a formal interview. We’re going to ask them all the questions that everyone in America wants answered. And hopefully they’ll provide those answers.”

Comer had gotten a cool response from the White House and Justice Department in his initial requests for information, a stark contrast to last fall when the Biden administration routinely leaked details about a similar controversy involving documents found at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate during an FBI raid.

News of the first cooperation from the Archives with Majority Republicans in the House came the same day the nation’s historical preservation agency called on former U.S. presidents and vice presidents from the last six administrations to recheck any personal presidential records they have for the presence of any classified or otherwise relevant materials.

Comer said his committee will query Stern on the documents found in Trump’s, Biden’s and former Vice President Mike Pence’s possession over the last six months and “why was there such a difference in how the Trump document case was handled versus how the Biden case was handled.”

“We want to know who had access to those documents,” the chairman added. “We’re going to remind them that we have a very serious Biden family influence peddling investigation going on. And we’re very concerned about not only who had access to those documents, but whether or not those documents ended up in the hands of our adversaries around the world, especially those who were involved in some of the Biden influence peddling scheme.”

Comer also confirmed his committee is seeking to interview the California art dealer who sold some of Hunter Biden’s recent art pieces to determine if any foreign powers were using the purchases as an avenue of additional influence with the first family.

“We need to know who’s buying this artwork,” he said. “And I’m willing to sign a confidentiality agreement. You know, I need to know about this art, because there’s a pattern here of our adversaries, especially in China, sending money to Biden interests, whether it be some of Hunter’s or [his uncle] Jim Biden’s shady business dealings, whether it be to the University of Pennsylvania to fund the Biden center for diplomacy, or reportedly to purchase some of Biden’s artwork at very high prices.

“We’re concerned that there’s a pattern of corruption here with respect to the CCP that may be compromising this White House.”

That overlay of insecure classified documents with influence peddling concerns is driving some to push for the damage assessment.

Brock said any FBI assessment would focus on a few key questions.

“There’s two parts of this of interest from a counterintelligence standpoint,” he said. “First of all, it’s the mishandling of the document itself. Why was it mishandled? And what made them think that they should take these documents home? And then secondly, what what was in those documents?

“This is very important from a counterintelligence standpoint, drawing a correlation between why those documents were chosen to be removed from classified environments and taken home. And then assessing what was in those documents, particularly in light of the fact that in President Biden’s case, they were in a private residence, where other people had direct access. Now, obviously, the Republicans are very interested in the fact that that his son, Hunter Biden, had theoretical access to these documents.

“And they’re gonna want to know whether or not there’s a correlation between what’s in the documents and what was used by Hunter Biden to gain business. And if there is a correlation, if it can be shown that there was that kind of fallout from having these classified documents available in the house, then that has a distinct counterintelligence interest to the government to make sure that those in the highest reaches of our government are not compromised by all of this.”

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
