Pat O’Shane calls for lifting of JobSeeker and pension payments

Cairns Anti Poverty Network members gathered this morning outside the Cairns DFO pre-polling centre to send a final message before election day. They called for the next government to slash poverty with a single stroke by lifting the rate of JobSeeker and pensions.

Former Magistrate Pat O’Shane stands up for relieving poverty

“Poverty is a policy choice. And it is the choice that successive governments have chosen for many of us in Far North Queensland”, declared Pat O’Shane, Kuku Yalanji trailblazer, former magistrate, and candidate for Leichhardt.

“I grew up dirt poor in a shack shared with my parents and younger siblings. Today Australia is a rich and modern country, yet poverty is rising again.

“For a short window in the early days of the pandemic this Government significantly lifted the incomes of many people on income support through the Coronavirus Supplement introduced on April 27, 2020.

“That was the day when Australian poverty was slashed in half through a single initiative. Lives drastically improved in Far North Queensland”, she said.

Community housing providers, Access Housing and SHAC (Shelter Housing Action Cairns) reported that their tenants were able to clear rent arrears – in many cases for the first time. St Vincent De Paul saw a 78% decline in requests for assistance in Far North Queensland (April 2020 compared with April 2019).

“But it was short-lived. As the supplement was wound back in early 2021, St Vincent De Paul and other welfare agencies saw requests for emergency relief rise sharply.

“We used to talk about people falling through the cracks. Now increasingly there is no floor.” said Renee Lees, rally organiser, spokeswoman for Cairns Anti-Poverty Network and Senate Candidate.

“This election has heard talk of the housing crisis, cost of living and stagnating wages. But the incomes of Australia’s poorest have largely been overlooked, with neither major party prepared to commit to lifting payments above the poverty line.

“The Cairns Anti Poverty Network asks voters to assess parties by their commitment to a future where no one is left behind. We ask our next government to choose dignity over poverty and raise the rate of JobSeeker and other income support to at least $70 a day. The Greens and Socialist Alliance have committed to that.” explained Lees.

AEC not yet proven where election writs have been advertised as required by Electoral Act

It seems the Australian Electoral Commissioner Tom Rogers has been unable to provide proof of where the election writ has been published as required under the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918.

Dale Holmes writes that the AEC has been unable to state which newspapers have published the writs, therefore a huge question mark hangs over the legitimacy of the federal election on Saturday.

                     (h)  a writ that relates to the members to be elected from the Northern Territory.

             (3)  The 8 writs issued for a general election shall be issued on the same day.

             (4)  Where a writ for an election to be held in a Division, or each Division, in a State or Territory is received by the Electoral Commissioner under subsection (1), the Commissioner shall:

                     (a)  endorse on the writ the date of its receipt;

                              (i)  in not less than 2 newspapers circulating generally in the State or Territory; or

                             (ii)  if there is only one newspaper circulating generally in the State or Territory—in that newspaper;

                     (c)  take such steps as the Commissioner considers appropriate to advise the Divisional Returning Officer or each Divisional Returning Officer, as the case requires, of the particulars of the writ, including the dates fixed by the writ; and

                     (d)  give such directions as the Commissioner considers appropriate to the Divisional Returning Officer or each Divisional Returning Officer, as the case requires, in relation to the holding of the election.

    (5)  Where a writ for an election to be held in a Division or Divisions is received by the Electoral Commissioner under subsection (1), the Commissioner may, where he or she considers it appropriate, advertise receipt of, and particulars of, the writ, in a newspaper or newspapers circulating in the Division or in some or all of the Divisions, as the case requires.

                              (i)  in not less than 2 newspapers circulating generally in the State or Territory; or

                             (ii)  if there is only one newspaper circulating generally in the State or Territory—in that newspaper;

                     (c)  take such steps as the officer considers appropriate to advise each Divisional Returning Officer in the State or Territory of the dates fixed by the writ; and

                     (d)  give such directions as the officer considers appropriate to each Divisional Returning Officer in relation to the holding of the election.

The AEC has been contacted for comment with this request:

‘To Tom Rogers
Australian Electoral Commissioner
Dear Sir,
Could you please provide information relating to the publication of the writs for a general election as required under section 153 and 154 of the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918.

  • eight writs have to be published, could you please advise in what newspapers, location and date of publication.
    Thank you

Our Kingdom is Not of This World, But We Still Live in It: 2022 Federal Election

Our Kingdom is Not of This World, But We Still Live in It: 2022 Federal Election

Although we are citizens of a heavenly kingdom and look forward to its coming in full, we have a responsibility to do our part in letting God’s will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Let us vote wisely in the coming federal election, that we may elect leaders who will build a more just society.

Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world.
If it were, My servants would fight to prevent My arrest by the Jewish leaders.
But now My kingdom is from another place.”
~ John 18:36 (NIV)

Let me tell you a little of my story. I grew up in a Christian tradition and in a country where I was not expected or obliged to vote in elections, and where this verse from John’s gospel was often used to justify this position. I grew up thinking that if all Christians thought like this, our government would never represent Christian values and there would never be any Christians in parliament.

So, what’s the answer? Jesus said His kingdom was not of this world, but His disciples have always lived here. So, despite my upbringing, my desire has always been to see a society permeated, as much as possible, with traditional Christian values.

Christian Values Checklist: Second Edition

This week in the Canberra Declaration I was delighted to read:

We are excited to announce a miraculous shift in the Christian Values Checklist, towards righteousness. In our 23 years of our existence, the Australian Christian Values Institute has never seen anything like it. Totally extraordinary. Second Edition Christian Values Checklist. — Warwick Marsh, Kurt Mahlburg & Cody Mitchell

So, what’s brought this about — the power of prayer? I believe most definitely, yes. Yes, Christians have fallen on their knees in prayer for this election perhaps more than ever in recent history. This is truly wonderful. But, in addition, I suspect many Christians have been writing to their senators and to their federal members over the last two years, raising their concerns. I believe this has borne fruit and our representatives have heard their people.

There used to be a saying that one letter to parliament represents at least ten others who have not written. I suspect members’ office staff have been doing the statistics over the last two years and many have seen the writing on their wall.

So, if prayer and letter writing has created the most tangible shift in Australian political values in 23 years and we have not even voted yet, what effect could prayed-up Christians have on polling day?

Preparing for Election Day

We have to vote in Australia. So my encouragement, along with Molly Joshi’s post, “Preparing Your Heart to Pray for the Federal Election”, is to be fervent in prayer. I have written out a list of all the candidates in my electorate and I am systematically praying for each one. They are all men and women who have put their lives on the line for our nation, and just like our servicemen and women, I believe they should have our fervent prayer support.

Then, I believe all Christians should rise up in God’s strength, use our minds that He has given us and study all we can about our candidates — perhaps phone them up and interview them. What I am trying to say here is that for me, as a Christian, I can’t go into this election and simply vote just the same way as I did last time without a thorough re-evaluation. For me, I believe I must be prayed up and informed and trust the Lord to guide me to number the candidates as He directs me. I don’t want to vote out of habit, but out of passionate conviction that this is the order of candidates He wants me to vote for.

My motive for this post is perhaps to encourage someone to pray up and study up more before polling day, Saturday 21st May. So that you can go to sleep that night with a clear conscience that you have done the right thing. My kingdom is not of this world, but I do live here, and I am passionate about freedom, free speech and justice for all, particularly the voiceless. For me, the Christian faith is the foundation for all these principles.

Preparing Your Heart to Pray for the Federal Election

Preparing Your Heart to Pray for the Federal Election

While praying for the federal election, here are some spiritual principles to observe, that we may pray with clean hands and a pure heart for the good of our nation. Let us turn to the Word of God and examine our inner dispositions, that our prayers may be effective with the grace of God.

Twenty-one days of prayer and fasting

This message was released at the 24 Hours of Prayer call on the 30th of April as a prelude to entering into the 21 days of fasting and prayer, beginning May 1st 2022.

These 21 days are an appointed time for the Ecclesia of Australia to come before the Lord God Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, through prayer and fasting. Like Esther and Daniel who received instruction to prepare their hearts, minds, souls and bodies, to humble themselves in repentance before God for their nation’s sin and desperately entreat God’s intervention for deliverance, we are being summoned in this hour before God for such a time as this!

This is a crucial election like none other, in a season of great upheaval and shakings in all spheres of life as we know it in Australia and the world. The depravity of conscience in politics and government, resulting in evil laws by which a society is now mirrored, is now untenable to a God-fearing people who have now awakened to stand for what is right in the kingdom of God, or we shall perish.

This warfare is spiritual. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in God for the pulling down of strongholds. Hence, a preparation to fight the good fight of faith and action.

Psalm 24 was impressed upon us by the Holy Spirit as a guiding pattern for these days of preparation:

1 The earth belongs to the Lord and its fullness the world and those who will dwell in it.
2 For He has founded it on the seas, and established it on the floods.

This establishes the sovereignty of God.

Here are some required protocols to follow while entering a solemn assembly:

Faith vs the Sin of Unbelief

The most important requirement to approach God is to have faith in Him. A whole generation of Israelites who saw mighty miracles and came out of 400 years of slavery never made it to their ultimate destination, the Promised Land, because of unbelief. God addresses their unbelief in Hebrews 3 and 4. The consequence of unbelief is to never enter His rest.

Hebrews 11:6 ~ “Without faith it is impossible to please God,
for he who comes to God must believe that He exists
and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

Clean Hands and a Pure Heart

Psalm 24:3-4 ~
“Who may ascend the hill of the Lord?
Who may stand in His Holy place?
He who has clean hands and a pure heart;
Who has not lifted his soul to vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.”

In approaching God’s presence as His Ecclesia on His holy hill, especially in these 21 days, God is requiring us to examine our hands and our own hearts.

The work of our hands blesses God! Our hands minister to Him in the purity of actions from pure thoughts and motives of the heart, and bring glory to His name. God loved David as a man after His own heart, but when it came to building a temple for Him, His Holiness could not accept the blood on David’s hands. Let us examine our hands.

We are being called to be watchmen on the walls of our nation and family in this hour.

God’s call as a watchman according to Ezekiel 33:7-9 has a serious consequence ~

7 Now as for you Son of Man:
I have set you as a watchman to the house of Israel.
Therefore you shall hear a word from My mouth and warn them from Me.
8 When I say to the wicked, “O wicked man, you shall surely die,”
and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way,
that wicked man shall die in his iniquity.
But his blood I will require from your hand.
9 Nevertheless, if you on your part warn the wicked to turn from his way
and he does not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity.
But you have delivered your soul.

There is a higher calling to the Ecclesia to come into maturity and know our calling and where to stand and watch and pray.

The work of our clean hands brings forth fruit, much fruit that will remain, as Jesus said in John 15;16.

May King David’s repentant prayer from Psalm 51:10-12 be our prayer too.

“Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from Your presence,
and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.”

Forgiveness From the Heart

Mark 11:24-26 ~
24 “Therefore I  say to you whatever things you ask when you pray,
believe that you will receive them, and you will have them.
25 and when you stand praying,
forgive if you have anything against anyone,
so that your Father Who is in heaven
may also forgive you your sins.
26 But if you do not forgive,
neither will your Father Who is in heaven forgive your sins.

This is a serious reason for unanswered prayers.

In this season as we draw close to God as the Ecclesia in prayer, let us examine our hearts like King David in Psalm 101:2-7 ~

2 “I will consider the path that is blameless.
When will You come to me?
I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
3 I will set no wicked thing before my eyes.
I hate the work of those who turn aside: it shall have no part of me.
4 A perverted heart shall be far from me:
I will not know anything wicked.
5 Whoever privately slanders his neighbour, him I will destroy;
6 Whoever has a haughty look and a proud heart, I will not endure.
7 He who practices deceit shall not dwell within my house;
He who tells lies shall not remain in my sight.”

These were the protocols of King David as He ministered to a Holy God in the tabernacle every day.

Unhindered Prayers

1 Peter 3:7 ~ Husbands, likewise dwell with them with understanding, giving honour to the wife as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.

Let us repent and walk with an upright heart in our own homes, with forgiveness and with love and grace, and offer the truth of the Word with no complacency or apathy. God, give us the courage and the gift of obedience to speak and obey the Truth of Your Word.

Psalm 101 is also a prophetic prayer for the kind of candidates and leaders we want in our Parliaments and House of Representatives.

The Righteousness of God

  • By the Blood and the Broken Body of Jesus

Hebrews 10:19-21 declares,

“Therefore brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way that He has opened for us through the veil, that is to say His flesh, and since we have a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart, in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse them from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.”

  • Righteousness through Faith

Romans 3:22-26 ~ This righteousness comes through faith in Jesus Christ,
to all upon all who believe, for there is no distinction.
For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God,
being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
Whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood,
for a demonstration of His righteousness,
because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins previously committed,
to prove His righteousness at this present time
so that He might be just and be the justifier of him who has faith in Jesus.

  • Faith is credited as Righteousness to the seed of Abraham

Romans 4:20-25 ~
20 “He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief,
but was strong in faith, giving glory to God.
21 and being fully persuaded that what God had promised, He was able to perform.
22 therefore it was credited to him as righteousness.
23Now the words, “It was credited to him” were not written for his sake only,
24 but for us, to whom it shall be credited
if we believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,
25 Who was delivered for our transgressions, and was raised for our justification.

Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach. ~ Proverbs 12:24

  • Hebrews 10:26-30 has a severe warning

26 For if we wilfully continue to sin
after we have received the knowledge of the truth,
there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
27 but a fearful expectation of judgement
and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.
28 Anyone who despised Moses’ law died without mercy
in the presence of two or three witnesses.
29 How much more severe a punishment do you suppose he deserves,
who has trampled underfoot the Son of God,
and has regarded the blood of the covenant,
that sanctified him to be a common thing,
and insulted the Spirit of grace?
30 For we know Him who said “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay.”
And again He says,” The Lord will judge His people.”
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Let us not partake of the body and blood of Jesus unworthily. Let us examine our hearts and confess our sins daily and walk in the forgiveness and victory of the cross.

Let us as the Ecclesia pursue Life in the Spirit.

Romans 8:2 ~ “For the Law of life in Christ Jesus has set us free from the law of sin and death.” There is power in the purity of hands, heart and motives led by the Spirit to pray the effective fervent prayers of the righteous that avail much. The Judeo-Christian values of our nation will be preserved because of the law of Life in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 24:7-10 is a prophetic decree to the heads of Gates and doors in the spiritual realm that have held back justice and righteousness in our land. It is the time and season to decree and proclaim and prophecy to the gates and welcome the King of glory to be mighty in battle, as we decree His finished work on the cross, His righteousness to enter and govern in every area of our nation.

God needed Ezekiel to prophesy with his mouth, life and Spirit to the dry bones to become an army. Jesus commanded His disciples to speak to the mountains to move. Jesus defeated the enemy only with the Word in His mouth by decreeing, “It is written,” “It is written,” “It is written,” even as He was filled with the Spirit.

The gates of a city or region/nation are powerful places of trade, transfer and authority. The gate is an entryway into an unknown place or a place of great significance. The elders of the city sat at the gates; kings addressed their subjects at the gates. Mordecai heard of the plan for the assassination of the king at the gates.

We as a nation stand at a pivotal place of transition depending on whom we elect to sit at the gates of our nation’s governance and security. It is time as watchmen to be vigilant and watchful in prayer to discern the enemy’s plans. Here is a vision and angelic encounter that my pastor Jimmy Njino shared at our Sunday service (starts at 11:02 min):

Jesus is alive and victorious over all that was, that is and is to come. Let us boldly declare Colossians 2:14-15 ~

“He blotted out the handwriting of ordinances
that was against us and contrary to us,
and He took it out of the way, nailing it to the cross.
And having disarmed authorities and powers,
He made a show of them openly,
triumphing over them by the cross.

Psalm 118:19-29 ~ A prophetic decree:

Open to Australia the gates of righteousness;
We will go into them, and we will praise the Lord;
This (Canberra Declaration /your family) is the gate of the Lord;
The righteous shall enter through.
We will thank you that YOU have heard us
And have become our deliverance.
Jesus the Stone that the builders rejected has,
And now is the cornerstone of Australia.
This is what the Lord has done and it is marvellous in our eyes.
This is the day that the Lord has made we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Save us, we ask You, O Lord; O Lord we ask you, send now success.
Blessed be he that comes in the name of the LORD;
We have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.
The LORD is God,
And He has shown us His Light;
Bind the sacrifice with cords,
even unto the horns of the altar.
You are Australia’s God, Israel’s God and we will praise You.
Oh give thanks to the LORD,
For He is good,
For His mercy endures forever.

Labor will hijack councils to wipe ratepayers out with climate change emergency

Labor will hijack councils to wipe ratepayers out with climate change emergency

Update to 2019 NLGA conference

by Alison Ryan

The Resolution 29: That the NGA call on the Australian Government to:
Declare a climate Emergency
Establish a $10 billion national fund for councils to build the resilience of climate change vulnerable communities
Commit to providing maximum protection for all people, economies, species, ecosystems and civilisations, and to fully restoring a safe climate
Mobile the required resources and take effective action at the necessary scale and speed across Australia
Transport the economy to zero emissions and make a fair contribution to drawing down the excess carbon dioxide in the air
Encourage all other governments around the world to take these same actions

The Response, 24 Oct 2019, from Sussan Ley MP Minister for the Environment, read as follows:
The Australian Government takes the issue of climate change seriously. The Government is taking the action that is needed to address climate change. As a result of the policies that the Government has put in place over the last six years, Australia will exceed its Kyoto 2020 targets by 367 million tonnes. The Government has set out, to the last tonne, responsible targets to ensure that Australia meets its Paris 2030 commitments. Emissions per capita are now at the lowest level in 29 years and by 2050, emissions per capita will fall by 50 percent. Due to the Government’s commitment to meeting its Renewable energy Target, Australia’s investment per capita in renewable energy is currently the highest in the world. The Government will continue to take responsible action on climate change in a way which ensures both jobs for the future, and a clean and green environment.

A much clearer news report from The West Australian says, “Environment Minister Sussan Ley tells mayors to stay out of climate change”, dated 18 July 2019.
“Ms Ley did not say if she would declare such an emergency, but believes councils should focus on dealing with local environmental issues, such as household rubbish.”
“The Australian councils are part of 800 across the globe to have declared climate emergencies, encompassing more than 140 million people. Victoria’s Darebin City Council was the first to take the leap in 2016. Darebin has taken a steering role among other local administrations, leading a national climate emergency conference last year.”
Link: Environment Minister Sussan Ley tells mayors to stay out of climate change | The West Australian

I think these Councils are a not fit to do other than services. Through ICLEI they are globalists. eg: Think local – act global.

ICLEI news reports “Labor commits to working with local government on climate action”.
“Friday 8 April – Shadow Minister for Climate Change and Energy, The Hon. Chris Bowen MP committed to collaborating with local governments on climate action if elected to the Federal Government. The Hon. Chris Bowen joined over 200 Mayors and elected members representing over 108 local governments from across Australia to discuss Labor’s priorities to adapt, mitigate and build resilience.”

“As one of the small handful of former Mayors in the House of Representatives, I embrace partnership between the Commonwealth and local government, particularly in climate change,” stated Mr. Bowen. “States, territories and local governments are getting on with doing the job and I want to provide a better framework for that to occur as part of a more consistent national approach.”

“During the Roundtable, if elected, the Shadow Minister Chris Bowen committed to:
A roundtable with the Mayors in June to discuss how to accelerate climate action with local governments.

Invite a representative of the Australian Local Government Association to a meeting of all jurisdiction climate change and energy ministers to develop a national framework for climate change and energy policy.”

So there we have it – Local Government sneaking into the National Cabinet = 3 tiers of government.

SACK THEM ALL is the Rally cry for Melbourne’s next Freedom March on 14 May.

NEW and improved How To Vote using Marbles!

NEW and improved How To Vote using Marbles!

TopherField – Apr 20, 2022

New and Improved! Now with Authorisation Statement! And more cowbell*!

*This video may or may not actually contain cowbell.

You’ve been asking where my marbles videos have gone, and the answer is I was forced to delete them by the government’s absurd rules around elections.

I made those videos BEFORE I decided to run for politics, but surprise surprise once I announced I was running for the Senate in Tasmania, all of a sudden I was getting in trouble for educational videos I uploaded BEFORE I even decided if I was going to do it!

Anyway, long story short, I’ve made a whole new video, combining both the Senate and House of Representatives, and yes there’s an Authorisation Statement at the end!

Watch it and share it! Let’s teach the major parties the meaning of the phrase ‘Streisand Effect’!
