
SELMA, Calif. – A police officer in Selma, California was shot and killed while on patrol Tuesday afternoon.
Local reports say the officer was approached by a resident reporting a suspicious person, and as he got out of his vehicle, the suspect opened fire, hitting him multiple times.
The officer was transported to the hospital but died from his injuries. The shooting may be gang-related and the suspect was already wanted by probation officers.
The officer did not return fire.
