Michelle Rips Trump For ‘Kids In Cages,’ Forgets Her Husband Started It

During her speech at the virtual Democratic National Convention, former first lady Michelle Obama called out and berated President Trump for the widely used accusation of separating children from their parents at the Southern Border and locking them in “cages.” What Michelle Obama seems to have forgotten, is that the policy was created under her husband’s presidency and halted during the Trump Administration.

As reported by the AP, Michelle slammed the President for locking children in cages but forgot to mention that they were constructed during Barack Obama’s presidency and used for the exact same purpose. The chain link block facilities were used to hold migrant children until U.S. Customs and Border Protection, along with Health and Human Services, could verify the children’s ‘parents.’ Many times, migrant children were discovered to be trafficked into the United States by criminals or persons with nefarious purposes.

The former first lady said Americans  “watch in horror as children are torn from their families and thrown into cages.”

These cages, however, were created and utilized as early as 2014. In fact, Sara Carter covered the story extensively in 2014 when she worked for The Blaze.

This was the year several pictures were taken of the cages that began circuiting in past years to criticize Trump’s immigration polices. Many who posted the pictures deleted them after discovering they were actually taken in Obama’s tenure.

This shunned practice was eventually stopped by Trump as a result of the fierce uproar. This same outcry was not heard when Obama initiated the same practice.
