Emma-Jo Morris on Being a Conservative in a Liberal City: You ‘Forge Your Own Path,’ Liberals ‘Don’t Have That Muscle’

Breitbart News political editor Emma-Jo Morris joined a panel discussion on Friday at Turning Point USA’s Young Women’s Leadership Summit in Dallas, Texas, where she, Post Millennial editor-in-chief Libby Emmons, and New York Post columnist Karol Markowicz talked about being a conservative in a liberal city.

“You become hardened in a certain way, and you get used to having to forge your own path in ways that people who fit in more, politically, in their greater society don’t have that muscle,” Morris said.

Watch Below:

“Andrew Breitbart was always a huge influence for me, and a huge inspiration to me, and he had a really important quote that has lived on for years since he’s died, which is, ‘Walk toward the fire,’” she added. “And as people watch you do that, and as people see that, and agree with you, they’ll start to see that they can do it, too.”

In discussing how to deal with people who agree with conservative ideas but are too afraid to admit it, Morris said she agrees that “there’s not so much patience for the people who are all worried” about facing backlash, but to keep in mind that “people come around in their own time, and they realize as they see people like us — they can do it, too. But there’s a lag.”

“I also think it’s important to engage those people,” Morris said, elaborating:

I have a friend who’s progressive — she thinks — and we were talking about the trans sports stuff, and she was saying, “I kind of agree with you, but sometimes I bring this up with my other friends who are progressive, and I feel extremely judged, and I feel like they’re not going to want to engage with me, and maybe not even going to want to be my friend.”

So I said, “What do they find outrageous about what you think?” and when you sit with them, and take time to really unpack what their beliefs are, and they realize themselves that this isn’t hateful, this isn’t coming from a malicious place — they start to feel to feel more comfortable — after having worked it out with somebody who’s safe, to articulate themselves better to the people around them.

“So it’s kind of like you have to try and hold their hand a little bit,” Morris said. “There’s something to be said for being patient and being supportive.”

“The same way we want these people to be supportive of us is to be supportive of them on their path of understanding the world around them, which is extremely complicated, as we all know,” Morris added.

Biden’s ‘Minister of Truth’ Nina Jankowicz Called for Facebook to Censor Breitbart

Biden’s ‘Minister of Truth’ Nina Jankowicz Called for Facebook to Censor Breitbart

Nina Jankowicz, the chair of the new Disinformation Governance Board in the Department of Homeland Security, wanted Facebook to censor Breitbart News, joining the left’s calls for Silicon Valley to censor conservative news outlets in 2019.

Jankowicz, 33, whose past statements (and songs) came under scrutiny after her new job became widely known this week, once promoted the “Russia collusion” conspiracy theory, and denied in 2020 that Hunter Biden’s laptop was authentic.

She has also called for increased regulation of free speech on social media, calling Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s speech  at Georgetown University on free expression “unfortunate,” and protested against the inclusion of Breitbart on the platform:

Left-wing groups have pushed for boycotts of Breitbart News since Donald Trump was elected in 2016, and efforts to silence independent conservative outlets continue in Congress, notably in the Journalism Competition and Preservation Act (JCPA).

Jancowicz also suggested that Breitbart News repeated “Russian state-sponsored media” in her 2020 book, How to Lose the Information War: Russia, Fake News, and the Future of Conflict. She provided no evidence in the book for her claim.

Watch – The Babylon Bee Interviews Breitbart Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow

Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow recently appeared on The Babylon Bee podcast where he discussed a range of topics, from Big Tech’s censoring of conservative outlets to China’s influence on the corporate media.

Speaking with hosts Adam Yenser and Kyle Mann, the discussion first centered on Twitter’s censorship of The Babylon Bee before segueing into the “top five worst purveyors of fake news.” Alex singled out NPR when recalling the Hunter Biden laptop story and the broader media’s treatment of Breitbart political editor Emma Jo-Morris.

“Whoever is the next Republican president, day one, you have to defund NPR, you have to defund PBS.” said Alex. “I know they get so much of their money from donations, but make the statement. Make the statement that we’re not going to government-fund fake news like we’re some sort of third-world country.”

“The fact that they were the worst on that story is very telling,” he added.

On the broader subject of fake news, Alex reiterated arguments laid out in his book Breaking the News by characterizing the establishment media less as an ideologically motivated cabal and more as a collection of self-interested conglomerates pushing false narratives to protect their bottom lines, such as the benefits of unfettered free trade with China.

“Is Disney just Disney or is Disney part of ABC Disney with ABC News,” he said. “ABC News has a parent company that has theme parks and resorts in China. So, do you think China, which gives permission for all these theme parks to exist, you think they’re going to be very kind to ABC if ABC is really investigating the origin of the pandemic? Of course not.”

Later in the interview, Alex discussed how fact-checking outlets give a virtual pass to more left-leaning outlets while crushing conservative outlets with “False” ratings by playing with semantics.

“It’s called harassment,” Alex told the hosts.

“CNN knows a lot about harassment,” Adam interjected.

“But that’s what they’re here to do!” Alex said. “They’re here to make our lives difficult. They’re not here to actually bring integrity to the American news landscape. They start with a premise: ‘Find a way to reveal that Breitbart is wrong … Find a way to have a brick thrown through your window, so that you waste your time. That’s their goal.”

On a more light-hearted note, later in the program, Alex squared off in a battle-of-wits with Babylon Bee editor-in-chief Kyle Mann as the two guessed whether or not certain outlandish headlines were true or false.

Spoiler: Alex won.

Rep. Dr. Ronny Jackson: Joe Biden ‘Needs to Resign,’ ‘Not Cognitively Capable of Leading’

Rep. Dr. Ronny Jackson (R-TX), who served as White House physician during the Obama and Trump administrations, is calling for President Joe Biden to resign, noting he is “not cognitively capable of leading.”

“Biden doesn’t know what’s going on with Ukraine. He doesn’t know what’s going on with ANYTHING!” Jackson tweeted Friday. “He’s not cognitively capable of leading. He needs to RESIGN before our country suffers any more.”

On February 8, Jackson, who has been calling for Biden to undergo a cognitive assessment since last year, penned a letter to Biden demanding he take a cognitive test over fears that he may have Alzheimer’s Disease, Breitbart News reported. The letter was signed by 37 of his fellow Republican lawmakers.

The next day, Jackson appeared on Fox Business Network’s Varney & Company and reaffirmed his stance that Biden is mentally unfit to serve as President…

Exclusive: Despite Facebook Bias, Breitbart News Destroys Establishment Media on Platform

Exclusive: Despite Facebook Bias, Breitbart News Destroys Establishment Media on Platform

Despite the presence of a range of leftist “fact-checkers” with the power to suppress posts on the platform and open censorship of conservative news stories by Facebook, Breitbart News is demolishing its establishment foes on Facebook.

Facebook has an established track record of censoring conservative media. It censored the New York Post twice, first for the Hunter Biden laptop story and then for a negative story about a Black Lives Matter co-founder. It censored Tucker Carlson’s page, reducing the Fox News host’s reach on the platform little more than a month before the 2020 election. It censored the Wall Street Journal over an op-ed on coronavirus.

And it censored Breitbart News — for a live video of a press conference.

Despite this demonstrable bias, over the last three months, the official Breitbart News page on Facebook generated nearly 40 million interactions — more than the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, and HuffPo combined.

Breitbart News’ interaction rate of 39.9 million towers over far-left competitors like Vox, which totaled fewer than one million in the same period.

The rankings of some third-party analytics services, like NewsWhip, sometimes give Breitbart News a lower ranking than the above, due to the fact that it does not include native videos and photos in its calculations, an area where Breitbart outperforms its competitors.

Although Facebook has included Breitbart News in a 200-strong list of approved media outlets (most of which are establishment or left-leaning), Breitbart still faces an uneven playing field on the platform due to the presence of multiple left-leaning third-party “fact-checkers” that have the power to suppress publishers.

These “fact-checkers” include direct competitors of Breitbart News like USA Today, which suppressed a Breitbart News post on Facebook-owned Instagram in June 2020. These fact-checkers often decline to target posts from Breitbart’s competitors — for example, when HuffPo published disinformation about President Donald Trump profiting from a drug company’s coronavirus treatment, it was not fact-checked at all — not even with an “additional context” fact-check, the least severe kind.

Despite this advantage, HuffPo’s engagement fails to come anywhere near Breitbart News. Far-left media is failing on Facebook despite the advantage of biased fact-checkers (even Facebook VP Nick Clegg admits that fact-checkers pursue their own political agenda).

As to how much worse the establishment, left-wing media would be faring on Facebook if so many prominent conservatives had not been banned from the platform — we can only guess.

Larry Elder Wins in Court: California Must Put Him on Recall Ballot

Conservative talk show host Larry Elder won his court challenge Wednesday to California Secretary of State Shirley Weber, who must place him on the list of candidates in the Sep. 14 election to recall incumbent Gov. Gavin Newsom (D).

As Breitbart News reported Tuesday, Elder’s campaign sued the Secretary of State after she excluded him from the list of 41 candidates to replace Newsom, if a majority of voters choose to recall him. The reason given was that Elder allegedly failed to file complete tax returns. Elder’s campaign denied that accusation, noting that he had turned in five years of tax returns on time, and also arguing that the law requiring candidates to submit tax returns did not apply to recalls anyway.

Elder also noted the Secretary of State had exempted Newsom from the requirement, saying he was not a “candidate.”

Judge Laurie Earl agreed with the latter point: “Preliminarily … I am not convinced that Election Code section 8902 applies to recall election, and if it did, I am of the opinion, I am inclined to find that Mr. Elder substantially complied.”

After lawyers for all parties had a change to present their case, Earl made her ruling final:

I don’t find that the recall election is a direct primary election ballot … By reaching that finding, I don’t find that Mr. Elder was required to file tax returns at all … I would grant the petition, and issue a peremptory and writ of mandate, directing the respondent, and all persons under her control, to file Mr. Elder’s nomination documents … qualifying him as a candidate and place his name and ballot designation on the ballot, and any sample ballot and voter pamphlet for a candidate for Governor of the State of California in the September 14th recall election.

She also required the Secretary of State to include Elder’s statement of qualifications to be included in the voter pamphlet.

She ruled that while she did not need to order Weber to review Elder’s tax returns, the Secretary of State could give him the opportunity to file supplemental tax returns if necessary.

If Democrats hoped to keep Elder — a charismatic black conservative with a devoted popular following — off the ballot, the move may have backfired, as he has scored an important victory against the Democrat-run state government.

Former Monterey Park mayor Betty Chu, who also sued on behalf of Elder, had called the Secretary’s attempt to exclude Elder from the ballot “voter suppression,” throwing Democrats’ recent allegations against Republicans back at them.

Murder Victims’ Families Back Effort to Oust Newsom: ‘Chaos and Crime in Our Streets’

A new demographic in California is speaking out about why Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom should be removed from office through a recall election: the families of murder victims.

“He has blatantly denied justice to the victims and he has caused chaos and crime in our streets,” Nina Salarno, president of Crime Victims United of California, said in a San Francisco Chronicle report.

Salarno, whose sister was murdered in 1979, and others in her organization, joined Rescue California, the group behind the recall effort, at a press conference on the steps of the state Capitol on Tuesday.

The Chronicle reported:

The advocacy comes as Newsom rolls out a number of policies that decrease the amount of time people spend incarcerated. In May, the state announced that as many as 76,000 inmates, including people convicted of violent or repeat felonies, might get the opportunity to leave prison early in exchange for good behavior and rehabilitation. Advocates said the move would reward inmates who better themselves, while critics said it would endanger the public. Because of the structure of the program, it will be months or even years before any inmates are released.

The governor also drew ire from victim’s rights advocates when he suspended the state’s death penalty in 2019, calling it discriminatory and immoral. At the time, he granted 737 reprieves to the condemned inmates on the nation’s largest Death Row.

“He doesn’t care about us,” said Mark Klaas, who became a prominent activist after his 12-year-old daughter Polly was killed in 1993.

Newsom had asked Klass to come to speak with him about the death penalty decision.

“Calling a crime victim to drive 100 miles to tell him that he was declaring a death penalty moritorium, and then sending him on his way is one of the more disrespectful acts I’ve ever seen perpetrated on somebody who has been violated by violent crime,” Klaas said.

Sandra Friend’s 8-year-old son Michael Lyons was kidnapped, raped, and killed in 1996 while he was walking home from school in Yuba City. The perpetrator was sentenced to death, but the sentence was never carried out.

“To have that taken from us is unimaginable and there’s no way to express the deep hurt,” Friend said. “(Newsom) has let us down in the most unimaginable way.”

The Chronicle tracked down Nathan Click, a spokesperson for the effort opposing the recall, who blamed former President Donald Trump.

“It’s disappointing but not surprising to see Republicans use Trump-style tactics to launch false attacks and exploit the pain of crime victims in order to advance their partisan recall powergrab,” Click said.

Click said Newsom has increased funds to help victims’ families.

The Chronicle reported that 21 Republicans, eight Democrats and 12 people with “other” or no party affiliation are on the ballot for the Sept. 14 election.

“Voters will be asked two questions: Should Newsom be recalled? And if so, who should replace him?” the Chronicle reported. “If a majority votes yes on the first question, whoever receives the most votes on the second question will replace the governor for the rest of his term, which is scheduled to end in January 2023.”

Chuck Schumer Argues Spending Trillions Will ‘Ease Inflation Pressures’

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) will release a report Wednesday that argues spending trillions will “ease inflation pressures.”

The report, written by Moody’s chief economist Mark Zandi, claims inflation worries are “overdone,” because “much of the additional fiscal support … is designed to lift the economy’s longer-term growth potential and ease inflation pressures,” according to Axios.

“Greater investments in public infrastructure and social programs will lift productivity and labor force growth, and the attention on climate change will help forestall its increasingly corrosive economic effects,” the report continues, and the plan’s policies “would direct the benefits of the stronger growth to lower-income Americans and address the long-running skewing of the income and wealth distribution.”

Moody’s, which paid a $864 million settlement to federal and state authorities in 2017 for marking risky mortgage securities as safe before the 2008 financial crisis, contradicts an older report from the firm suggesting former President Donald Trump’s immigration and labor reform policies forced down unemployment, pressured companies to raise Americans’ wages and salaries, and even made housing cheaper for young families.

“As the immigrants leave, the already-tight labor market will get tighter, pushing up labor costs as employers struggle to fill the open job positions,” the report said. “Mr. Trump’s immigration policies will thus result in … potentially severe labor shortages, and higher labor costs.”

Schumer appears to be leveraging the second Moody’s report to push a $3.5 trillion Trojan horse package, while the Producer Price Index rose 7.3 percent in June from 12 months earlier, the largest demand since 12-month data was first introduced in 2010. In comparison to May, the index rose one percent. On average during the pre-pandemic Trump administration, the index rose by around 0.2 percent per month.

A recent poll revealed voters in battleground districts are overwhelmingly concerned about inflation and the rising cost of living with 86 percent of the respondents expressing concerns. Fifty percent of the respondents said they were extremely or very worried.

Self-designated socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is writing the $3.5 trillion Trojan horse package, which includes expanding medicare, global warming initiatives, and suburb displacement with low-income housing, amnesty, subsidized housing,  and subsidized childcare.
