Migrants Still Not Leaving NYC Hotel, Demand Free Stays at ‘Vacant Luxury Apartments’ on Billionaires Row

Border crossers, who arrived on buses from Texas, are still not leaving a New York City hotel where they were placed, for free, by Mayor Eric Adams (D). Instead of shelters, the border crossers are demanding to be set up in “vacant luxury apartments” on Billionaires Row.

Last week, as Breitbart News reported, city officials sought to move single male adult border crossers out of the Watson Hotel in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan where Adams’ administration had initially placed them as part of his migrant hotels plan.

Many of the border crossers, though, refused to leave and set up giant encampments on the city’s sidewalks that were eventually taken down by the New York Police Department (NYPD).

Still, according to local reports, border crossers are refusing to leave the Watson Hotel in protest over what they claim are poor conditions at the city’s mega-shelter at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal.

Instead, an activist with NYC ICE Watch shouted that border crossers should be placed in “vacant luxury apartments” all along the city’s Billionaires Row — paid for by New Yorkers.

“[Adams] could have easily, along with Gov. Hochul, opened up all the vacant luxury apartments,” the activist said. “We are on 57th Street right now. This is billionaire’s row. Half of the super towers on this street are empty.”

As nearly 50,000 border crossers have been bused to New York City, a sanctuary jurisdiction, since the spring of last year, Adams has recently called on President Joe Biden to “fairly distribute” illegal immigration across the United States.

Rather than cracking down on illegal immigration, the Biden administration is creating new programs to bring even more migrants to the U.S.

Most recently, for instance, Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) launched a mobile app where foreign nationals living in Mexico can schedule appointments to get released into the U.S. interior at the southern border.

Similarly, DHS announced a plan that blows open the doors to an even more expansive Catch and Release network at the border, where 360,000 more border crossers will be able to get into the U.S. interior by applying for humanitarian parole.

Already, Biden’s DHS is using a little-known parole program to mass-release hundreds of thousands of border crossers into the U.S. interior every month. At current estimates, the Biden administration has released 1.6 to two million border crossers into American communities since February 2021.

Border crossers, who arrived in New York City on buses from Texas, are refusing to leave a luxury Manhattan hotel that city officials had placed them in.

Over the weekend, city officials sought to move migrants out of the Watson Hotel in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan and to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal where Mayor Eric Adams has constructed a massive shelter for new arrivals.

Many of the border crossers staying at the Watson Hotel, paid for by taxpayers, are refusing to leave and have instead set up a homeless encampment outside the hotel. There, they are demanding the city “cancel rent” and provide them with “permanent homes.”

Some open borders activists, assisting the migrants, even suggested to ABC 7 News that new arrivals get placed in some of the city’s most expensive properties without charge.

Another sign posted by border crossers outside the Watson Hotel reads “no to discrimination towards immigrants” while one other reads “We need housing to sleep, we need help please.”

The housing demands come as New Yorkers, particularly working and middle class, grapple with exorbitant rents and skyrocketing home prices that have pushed many out of the city’s five boroughs and hundreds of thousands out of the state altogether.

Nearly 50,000 border crossers have been bused to New York City, a sanctuary jurisdiction, since the spring of last year. Those new arrivals will immediately begin competing for limited housing across the city, pushing the price of rent and homes way up for natives.

Real estate investors are some of the biggest beneficiaries of mass immigration to the United States. Immigration-driven population growth, set to bring the United States population to more than 400 million by 2060, is likely to send housing prices even higher.

A 2017 study published in the Journal of Housing Economics found that “increases in immigration into a metropolitan statistical area are linked with rising rents and home prices in that metropolitan statistical area and neighboring metropolitan statistical areas.”

Republicans in Congress representing New Yorkers — including Rep. Elise Stefanik, Claudia Tenney, Nick Langworthy, Marc Molinaro, Nicole Malliotakis, Andrew Garbarino, Anthony D’Esposito, and Nick LaLota — have been largely silent about the connection between mass immigration and housing costs.

Analysis: ‘Mind-Blowing’ Illegal Immigration Under Biden Approaching 1% of Total U.S. Population

Analysis: ‘Mind-Blowing’ Illegal Immigration Under Biden Approaching 1% of Total U.S. Population

President Joe Biden’s administration may bring a record 2.7 million illegal aliens to the United States-Mexico border this year, new analysis projects.

For 2021, Steven Kopits with Princeton Policy Advisors accurately projected that about two million border crossers and illegal aliens would be apprehended.

Likewise, Kopits correctly projected that more than 2.3 million border crossers and illegal aliens would be apprehended in 2022, for a total of about 4.2 million apprehensions since Biden took office.

As illegal immigration hit a record monthly high in December 2022, with more than 250,000 apprehensions at the border, Kopits writes that the figures “are simply surreal” and suggests that Biden is on pace to set a new illegal immigration record this year.

Kopits writes:

With December apprehensions exceeding expectations, we increase our calendar and fiscal year 2023 forecast for southwest border apprehensions to 2.7 million, which would represent a new record by 400,000 over fiscal and calendar year 2022. These are truly mind-blowing numbers. Annual southwest border apprehensions are beginning to approach 1% of the total US population. [Emphasis added]

Most significantly, those illegal aliens who are known to be successfully crossing the border reached nearly 88,000 last month. This figure comes after more than 73,000 illegal aliens successfully entered via the border in November 2022 — adding to the 600,000 illegal aliens who are known to have evaded Border Patrol in the last fiscal year.

These so-called “got-away” figures are on top of the tens of thousands of border crossers that the Biden administration is releasing into the U.S. interior every month. Over just a couple of summer months in 2021, for example, the administration released over 150,000 border crossers into American communities.

Though the Biden administration has drastically expanded its Catch and Release network at the border, the Department of Homeland Security continues to hide the monthly number of border crossers who are directly released into the U.S. interior.

A Los Angeles Times/YouGov poll, published in December, reveals that 65 percent of Americans oppose the Biden administration’s releasing border crossers into American communities rather than detaining them while they await their asylum hearings.

Migrants, Bused to NYC, Arrested for Allegedly Stealing $12.5K from Macy’s

Four border crossers, bused from Texas to New York City, were arrested this month after allegedly stealing nearly $12,500 worth of merchandise from a Macy’s department store.

On Monday, the Nassau County Police Department in Long Island, New York announced the arrests of 19-year-old Wrallan Cabezas Meza, 30-year-old Jose Garcia Escobar, 21-year-old Miguel Angel Rojas, and 27-year-old Rafael Rojas for allegedly shoplifting at Macy’s.

All of the men are newly arrived border crossers who were bused from Texas to New York City as part of Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R) plan to send migrant buses to sanctuary jurisdictions.

In total, nearly $12,500 worth of merchandise was recovered from the four border crossers. Escobar and Rafael Rojas were subsequently released from jail without bail. It is unclear if Meza and Angel Rojas remain in jail on bail.

According to the New York Post, Meza crossed the United States-Mexico border on July 4, 2022 while the others arrived at the border months later in September. All were put on buses by the state of Texas and relocated to New York City.

Angel Rojas and Rafael Rojas, the Post reports, have been living rent-free at the Westin Hotel in Manhattan. A whistleblower recently called out Mayor Eric Adams’ (D) plan that gives lucrative city contracts to a number of hotels willing to house migrants arriving on buses.

According to the whistleblower, border crossers are fighting hotel staff, drinking all day, and having sex in public, among other things.

Last week, Adams pleaded with President Joe Biden to create a federal program that would “fairly distribute” illegal immigration across the U.S. so as to relieve New York City of the burden of accepting tens of thousands of border crossers that have arrived since last spring.

Mexican President AMLO Praises Biden for Halting Border Wall: ‘Thank You’

Mexican President AMLO Praises Biden for Halting Border Wall: ‘Thank You’

Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) thanked President Joe Biden for halting the construction of border wall along the United States-Mexico border at a North American summit on Tuesday.

Alongside Biden and Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, AMLO praised Biden’s immediate halt to border wall construction along the southern border. The day after taking office, Biden signed an executive order that stopped all wall construction that had been underway by former President Trump.

“You, President Biden, you are the first president of the United States in a very long time that has not built, not even one meter, of wall,” AMLO said during remarks at the summit. “In that, we thank you for that sir. Although some might not like it, although the conservatives don’t like it.”

Indeed, as Breitbart News has chronicled, the Biden administration has chosen to leave wide holes in the border wall, rendering the barrier useless in many circumstances for Border Patrol agents trying to reduce illegal immigration from Mexico.

Instead, the Biden administration has spent previously-allocated border wall funds on “environmental remediation” projects, even as some 2.6 million border crossers and illegal aliens are projected to be apprehended this year.

While rejecting the benefits of a border wall to stop illegal immigration into the U.S., Biden is spending nearly half a million dollars in taxpayer money to build a security fence around his vacation home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

Joe Biden to Finally Visit U.S.-Mexico Border Two Years After Taking Office

President Joe Biden is finally heading to the porous U.S.-Mexico border for a flying visit on Sunday, a full two years after taking office.

Biden is due to spend a few hours in El Paso, Texas, currently the biggest corridor for illegal crossings.

The president’s brief visit is scheduled around an international meeting in Mexico City when Biden will meet with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Biden has previously distanced himself from his border flood by avoiding questions and delegating responsibility to Vice President Kamala Harris and Alejandro Mayorkas, his pro-migration, Cuban-born, Homeland Security chief.

As Breitbart News has reported, the visit comes after years of Biden administration neglect that has led to a flood of illegal border crossings:

Since Biden’s January 2021 inauguration, he and his deputies have allowed roughly 3.5 million economic migrants across the southern border, including more than a million “gotaways” that sneaked past the few border guards left at the border.

The inflow is 14 times as many as were allowed into the United States in President Donald Trump’s final year — and it has helped cut wages and spike rents for at least 100 million Americans.

Biden is expected to meet with border officials on Sunday to discuss migration as well as the increased trafficking of fentanyl and other synthetic opioids, which are driving skyrocketing numbers of overdoses in the U.S.

Biden will visit the El Paso County Migrant Services Center and meet with nonprofits and religious groups that support migrants arriving to the U.S. It is not clear whether Biden will talk to any migrants, the AP report sets out.

Republican John Cornyn of Texas offered some words of advice before Biden’s departure, coming just days after a human smuggler allegedly took aim at an El Paso Border Patrol agent during a routine traffic stop.

“He must take the time to learn from some of the experts I rely on the most, including local officials and law enforcement, landowners, nonprofits, U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s officers and agents, and folks who make their livelihoods in border communities on the front lines of his crisis,” Cornyn said.

From El Paso, Biden will continue south to Mexico City, where he and the leaders of Mexico and Canada will gather on Monday and Tuesday for a North American leaders summit.

Immigration is among the items on the agenda.

DHS Secretary Mayorkas Has ‘No Plans to Resign’ Amid Impeachment Inquiry

DHS Secretary Mayorkas Has ‘No Plans to Resign’ Amid Impeachment Inquiry

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has “no plans to resign” as House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has called on him to step down or face an impeachment inquiry from House Republicans.

As Breitbart News reported, on Tuesday, McCarthy said Mayorkas must resign from his position as the leader of DHS. If he resists, McCarthy said he will lead an impeachment inquiry, including investigative committee hearings at the United States-Mexico border, against Mayorkas.

Kevin McCarthy / Facebook

“I am calling on the Secretary to resign,” McCarthy said. “He cannot and must not remain in that position.”

“If Secretary Mayorkas does not resign, House Republicans will investigate every order, every action, and every failure will determine whether we can begin [an] impeachment inquiry,”  McCarthy continued.

In response, DHS spokeswoman Marsha Espinosa told CBS News that Mayorkas has “no plans to resign” and praised his leadership even as he has overseen the largest wave of illegal immigration at the southern border in American history.

“Secretary Mayorkas is proud to advance the noble mission of this Department, support its extraordinary workforce, and serve the American people,” Espinosa said:

The Department will continue our work to enforce our laws and secure our border, while building a safe, orderly, and humane immigration system. Members of Congress can do better than point the finger at someone else; they should come to the table and work on solutions for our broken system and outdated laws, which have not been overhauled in over 40 years. [Emphasis added]

Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX), who spoke at McCarthy’s press conference, detailed how President Joe Biden’s DHS — with Mayorkas at the helm — has blown open a little-known parole program that has hugely expanded the agency’s Catch and Release operation.

“… millions of unvetted illegal aliens … have been apprehended and blindly released into the country,” Babin said. “They’ve flown, housed, fed, educated, medicated, and incarcerated all on the taxpayer’s dime.”

Indeed, since Biden took office, DHS has released about 1.4 million border crossers and illegal aliens released into American communities since February 2021 — a foreign population exceeding the populations of eight states. This is in addition to the roughly 600,000 illegal aliens who are known to have successfully crossed the southern border since Biden took office.

New arrivals of working-age are awarded work permits by DHS to take American jobs as they await their immigration court hearings.

Massachusetts Taxpayers Asked to Pay $139M to House More Illegal Aliens

Massachusetts taxpayers are being asked to foot a $139 million bill that would “expand emergency shelter capacity” for border crossers and illegal aliens arriving in the state.

Just as Massachusetts residents are starting to see housing prices cool off, Gov. Charlie Baker (R) is asking for $139 million to hugely increase shelter space for border crossers and illegal aliens increasingly arriving in the state with little-to-no means.

“Massachusetts’ emergency shelter system provides support for thousands of families each year, but a recent uptick in new migrant arrivals, coupled with a strained housing market have led to a need for greater capacity across the system,” Baker said in a statement:

These expanded resources will help us quickly and effectively address this humanitarian crisis, especially as we enter the winter months. We look forward to working with our partners in the legislature, the nonprofit community and local government as we all address this unprecedented challenge, which is unfortunately driven by the federal government’s inability to address our country’s immigration challenges. [Emphasis added]

The millions in new taxpayer funds would go to expand the capacity of the state’s shelter system, where many border crossers and illegal aliens are ending up, by adding 1,300 additional units and an initial intake center.

Nearly $40 million of the total amount would fund resources needed to place newly arrived foreign students in Massachusetts public schools.

For months, officials in a number of Massachusetts towns said they have been blindsided by the arrival of hundreds of border crossers and illegal aliens who have been subsequently placed in hotel rooms.

The arrivals come as President Joe Biden’s administration has overseen an estimated 5.5 million migrant encounters at the United States-Mexico border since February 2021 while nearly 1.5 million border crossers and illegal aliens have been directly released into the U.S. interior.

Massachusetts residents have only recently started to see their housing market cool off as the median price of a single-family home dropped. At the same time, though, the median price, at nearly $550,000, remains too high for many would-be homebuyers because supply is so low and gets lower as hundreds arrive every month needing housing.
