And the Voice will have the power to challenge those decisions in the High Court.
The true gravity of what this referendum is actually about is only now starting to dawn on many Australians.
This change to the Constitution is so massive, it’s made headlines around the world.
Time Magazine called it a “profound constitutional change” which means Indigenous Australians could “gain formal representation in Parliament”1.
Still sounding like a “modest” change?
But the funny thing is that Albo tried to talk them out of such a massive constitutional amendment.
He asked the referendum working group – made up of pro-Voice activists – to limit its power to take a democratically elected parliament or government to the High Court2.
And they said no!
So what did Labor do? They folded.
They proved the ‘no’ case before the campaign even starts.
At the very first opportunity to show that the so-called Voice will not ride roughshod over the government, they folded.
Despite the internal division, despite the legal concerns, despite the community concerns, they capitulated.
It just goes to show who is in charge here.
It’s not you, me or the Australian people – the pro-Voice activists are well and truly running the table.
The Albanese government proposed an “additional set of words to guard against potential High Court challenges”, but were denied by the pro-Voice activists.
And if the rulebook of the country is changed we can only expect more of this.

New study by an Aboriginal-owned firm shows most Queenslanders see the benefits and support the pursuit of Treaty with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
More than half of survey non-Indigenous respondents want to learn more about Indigenous culture, heritage and history.
The study provides evidence that Queenslanders are ready to walk together to true reconciliation.
Three out of four people (77 per cent) think Treaty will benefit all Queenslanders to some extent, exclusive research shows.
Almost two-thirds (64 per cent) of those surveyed about Queensland’s Path to Treaty agree that we need to acknowledge First Nations peoples as the original custodians of Queensland.
And 66 per cent of Queenslanders agree that all Queenslanders should know the truth of First Nations culture and history.

The Palaszczuk Government today (March 25) publicly released the Path to Treaty market and social research 2023 report summary, commissioned by the Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships.
More than 2,320 Queenslanders were surveyed state-wide about their attitudes towards treaty-making, First Nations culture and history. The survey results provide a statistical baseline to inform future engagement throughout Queensland on the Path to Treaty.
The study also shows more needs to be done to promote Treaty and explain truth-telling to engage all Queenslanders on the path to true reconciliation.
One-in-four (26 per cent) of those surveyed had heard of treaty and one-in-five (19 per cent) know what truth telling is.
Of the non-Indigenous respondents surveyed (78 per cent) have an average or lower understanding of First Nations culture and heritage while more than half (54 per cent) expressed a desire to learn more about First Nations culture and heritage.

“It is extremely heartening to see the statewide survey found most Queenslanders see the benefit to Treaty in Queensland.
“It shows Queenslanders have got open hearts and open minds to the treaty process and most agree we acknowledge First Nations people are the original custodians of Queensland.
“Most of us want to know the truth about First Nations culture, heritage and traditions, and we want to learn more.
“But the study also shows we’ve got work to do to promote Treaty.
“It tells us we need to explain Treaty and Truth in bite-sized, digestible chunks of information.
“In my own words, a Treaty is a formal seal of goodwill, a peace pact, a negotiated agreement for a reconciled future.
“We have more than 120 different traditional owner groups in this state, so rather than one treaty, it’ll likely be treaties.
“But Treaty it is not Native Title 2.0. No-one is coming for your home or backyard.
“Truth is simpler. Truth is about unearthing the brutal bones of our frontier wars. Truth is talking openly about our modern-day reality. Truth is about us being courageous and curious.
“Path to Treaty is a chance for us to unite, in equality, and move forward with respect, dignity, and optimism.”

Annastacia Palaszczuk was forced to detail she has 18 full-time-equivalent media staff between her office and her department in a recent Question on Notice, but The Courier-Mail has been told a further 11.5 full-time equivalents exist in a separate digital team that reports to her office.
They include management, content, graphics, camera and video operators and special projects staff.
Australia’s big four banks have quietly destroyed all paper land titles they hold for 1.6 million Victorian mortgagees, forcing property owners to use a bank-owned electronic transaction system.
Any future sales of properties whose titles are held by the bank will need to be transacted, at least in part, electronically.
The mass destruction of paper titles and their replacement with electronic certificates has been questioned by property lawyers who fear it will compromise security and effectively outsource the 150-year-old Torrens title system to private operators.
The Law Institute of Victoria has been an outspoken critic of the electronic system, arguing it increases costs for consumers, undermines those holding titles for security against other assets, and adds complexity and legal uncertainty to a what was once a simple, safe system.
The changes were ushered in by the Registrar of Titles who declared in a notice in the Victoria Government Gazette that paper based titles will be void and of no effect from October 22, 2016.
Property owners whose paper land titles are held by major banks were not told their title documents have been destroyed.
The conversion of paper certificates of title to electronic versions was part of a national push to electronic conveyancing on the PEXA system, a spokesman for Land Victoria said.
PEXA is owned by state governments, the ANZ, CBA, NAB, Westpac, Macquarie Bank and private equity.
“If landowners wish to get a paper title when their mortgage is paid out, they can do so,” the spokesman said.
Bruce King from Kirby & Co. Solicitors said he conducted his first property transaction on the system last week and it was more expensive.
The transaction went smoothly but other lawyers encountered difficulties with banks failing to nominate a controlling entity which meant some settlements didn’t get through, he said.
PEXA chief executive Marcus Price said paper titles were cumbersome to use. “People keep losing them, including banks,” he said.
Most property fraud occurs with unencumbered paper titles being taken and used by other family members, he said.
“This is a long overdue catch-up by property to the two other big assets, shares and cash, which are exchanged electronically,” Mr Price said.
“It is ultimately a much safer system,” he said.
PEXA was set up in 2010 with federal government support after a meeting of the Council of Australian Governments urged modernisation of the antiquated system of paper-based transfers used by land titles offices and conveyancers.
The Titles Office in NSW is in the process of being privatised and South Australia is considering similar plans. Queensland titles have been privatised and parchment deeds are long gone.

As you can see in the above videos it’s not just me shining a light on old media’s failings. Robodebt Royal Commissioner Catherine Holmes made a special point to highlight how social media users on Twitter did a better job reporting the Robodebt Royal Commission than the old media.
Independent websites filled in a lot of the gaps in the reporting of the Bruce Lehrmann alleged rape. And it was the independent website True Crimes News Weekly that first named Lehrmann and if that hadn’t happened, we might still not know Lehrmann’s name, he might have never been charged and the cover-up attempt by politicians and police might not have been exposed.
And Nine Entertainment’s papers The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age have copped criticism far and wide for running a propaganda campaign promoting war with China.
Add the daily reports of media bias in Australia to Rupert Murdoch’s lies being exposed in America via the Dominion defamation case against Murdoch’s Fox News and the only conclusion that one can come to is that the old media is going to fail and it’s only a matter of time.

In any case, I disagree with your suggestion that an Aboriginal person should be made to denounce the Western affluent lifestyle if they claim to be Indigenous. The proper solution would be to DECOUPLE the Indigenous status from the unconditional PRIVELEGES it seems to attract in the current Australian political context (and let’s be honest here – POLITICS is EXACTLY what this is all about).
